I liked it actually. Don't get me wrong, retconning the story into Wolverine being a saint pisses me off but watching him and Sabretooth kick ass is nice. I'm just going to pretend this has bearing on the story of the X-Men or the Marvel U (which it won't, no one will remember or consider this ever) and just enjoy the show.

On a related note, what else are they going to give Wolverine the credit for? I beat the next time I am in France and go to the Louvre, there will be a painting of Da Vinci paiting the Mona Lisa and Wolverine will be in the background. Better yet, it always bugged me how Jesus was able to take all that punishment and then rise from the dead. Now I know, he was really Wolverine. His resurrection makes perfect sense now.
Xavier was a jerk back then, but at least he mellowed out. It's like after Brubaker's Deadly Genesis crap-fest, writers have gone out of their way to make Xavier in the worst light. It can't be just to have further propped up Cyclops...I mean they established his dominance in Messiah Complex, and they didn't have to kick Charles after that.

I skipped this book, and I'm going to pretend like it never happened--just like Deadly Genesis.

Yeah, Xavier started out a jerk. I just finished reading my Marvel Masterworks (Uncanny) X-Men 1-21 and Xavier was mind wiping people left and right. He even got borderline hysterical when Blob didn't join the X-Men (UXM 3-4).

Anyways, I never thought twice about buying this First X-Men garbage. If the '90s taught me anything, its not to waste my money on drek.

I honestly had forgotten that the book even existed. I'm sure that I will return to that state of ignorance after leaving this thread.

    It's just so unnecessary.

It means that dream the X-Men go on and on about. Yeah, Wolverine's dream and with words convinced a snotty stuck up brat named Charles Xavier to share said dream.

Excuse moi, I have to barf the taste of those words away.

Ps. It does seem to be heading in the direction of Wolverine creating the first mutant superhero team. In a similar fashion to Xavier.

How does Magneto and Xavier not remember this?

Wait until you see the rest of the trilogy. The prequel to this prequel will be X-men Resurrection when we find out that Jesus was in fact Wolverine who after drinking some special wine at the Last Supper fell into a drunken stupor and while in that stupor was beaten and crucified. He then came out of the stupor 3 days later not knowing where the hell he was and then walked out of the tomb and was like WTF.

The prequel to that prequel and the final act in the trilogy will me X-men Iliad where we find out that prior to his powers manifesting, Wolverine was in fact a young Greek warrior named Achilles. Afer he as presumably killed, he was cremated but his powers manifested and he regenerated his body from his burnt ashes and was found by a young boy named Romulus and they spend the next few years as sworn brothers wondering the world. Now going by the name Remus, they venture to Italy and after a quarrel Remus Wolverine pops his claw for the first time and accidentally kills Romulus. He then founds the city of Rome naming it after Romulus and over time the story gets confused. He then establishes the Roman Empire which lays the foundation for all of Western Civilization. What a guy.

The last time I think they made Xavier a legit dude who wasn't a complete prick was in X Men Legacy. He actually came to terms with him past errors and started being a better person. But it seems Marvel is intent and filling his past with soo many sins that the next time they kill the dude no one will care and he'll stay dead. And Magneto some how becoming more noble day by day.

And don't get me started on Wolverine... I really did like the guy at first and enjoyed him a bit when I started looking into his backstory but now.... bloody hell he's going to end up being the original mutant in another year or two. As well as his most holy mc-stabby who is never wrong.

EDIT: Just realized I just ranted without saying anything about the comic.

I do like the premise, as I like the premise of the first class movie. Hell I don't mind Xavier not being completely committed to the goal at first. But this should be starring Xavier and Magneto they were the Yin and Yang on mutant relations in the world. Wolverine having a cameo would be okay. But this is just terrible......

The art isn't bad I supposed not my cup of tea but it does have some charm to it.

All I had to do was to look at the ads and I knew that this series wasn't my cup of tea.

Also being discussed, largely with revulsion here: http://forums.comicbookresources.com...rst-X-Men-quot

To summarise - the concept sucks, the story sucks, the dialogue sucks, the art sucks. Hopefully will utterly die on its arse & dissuade Marvel from putting out any more crap like this.

The title for the new X-Men book is obviously going to be "Wolverine and the ALL NEW X-Men!!!"

The concept is interesting, but I have mixed feelings about the first issue. True, it WAS entertaining to see Logan and Creed's interactions...and the scene with the psychic girl was pretty hilarious...but there was honestly nothing brilliant about this story.

I didn't mind Xavier being self-centered, this is VERY early in his life and he probably doesn't even know of the existence of other mutants, let alone coming up with plans to help the mutant race. But the interaction with Logan came across as being somewhat CARTOONISH to say the least! I loved the introduction to young Nazi-killing Erik Lensherr though...reminded me of Fassbender's Eric from 'X-men First Class'.

Anyways, I'm curious to see where this goes, but my expectations of this mini have just lowered...

Old school art. =X That's as bad as Marvel trying to hype the "return" of John Romita, Jr. No one was clamoring for his return. Not sure if I heard a peep out of Neal Adams' fan. That doesn't count his relatives and kids, mind you. The concept looked bad and it was like Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari walking around as women in Bosom Buddies and totally passing as women. But to the viewers, it was obvious. First X-men. Sounded Awful. Looked awful.
