Default Anyone else borderline addicted to collecting TPBs?

I got back into comics some time last year but besides the first 7 New 52 Batman books, along with a few other randoms here and there, I haven't been collecting single comics at all. Instead, I've been collecting TOO MANY TPBs.

Recently I've really gotten into older Image books. Despite definitely not having the money for it, I recently bought a couple Savage Dragon and SuperPatriot books. Before that, a Spider-Man lot from eBay. Before that, 2 hardcover Amory War books, preceded by an array of Ultimate books, Batman books and X-Men books.

My question, and it's probably a silly one, but does anyone else here prefer trades over single comics? I realize the "collectors value" is better for single issues but I collect these books for the sole reason to read them and know that story haha. Another question, does anyone feel they are "addicted" to collecting TPBs (or comics)? To the point that it's a problem? I wouldn't say it's a problem for me at the moment but I could definitely let a few pay checks pass before buying some new books.
Gotta keep my PMA (even on CBR)

    Yeah I'm addicted.
That is to say I suffer from mania and when I get into something I go all in. Once in the rabbit hole I find it difficult to get out. Comics as
a kid and now TPB or GNs as an adult are the one point of interest that stays with me over the years. Other things that interest me come and go.
Only time allows me to take a long view of my behavior.
I can properly say "no" to drinking, drugs, sex, smoking and sugar. I don't even know how it's a struggle unless I compare it with someone else's POV. I always say yes to comics. I don't think there is a downside (loss of money?) the aforementioned stuff has consequences where comics
have little backlash. Sometimes if I like them, I re read them.

Once in the collecting mode I can look at it from many different viewpoints. Book physical properties- size, shape, rareness, etc. Or the Comic view of
author, artist, publisher, content, character, color, concept, genre, etc...
then there is the collectors view
cost, sameness, collection fit, fondness, run completion, loan ability (why I consider this I don't know. In my head I have people stopping by asking for titles and me being a benevolent library give them copies I can "afford"to lose ")((Double dipping really, example if you wanted new X-men I could give you your choice of floppies, tpb or omni))[Truth is only one person asks for loaners]
Fan viewpoint- there is alot to think about once inside the world of comics.

the end result is I take a completed run and shrink wrap it and put it in my closet making room on the shelf for the next completed run.
The loss is money, alot but not compared to other costs or hobbies or addictions. It's not a bad thing to crave. It's something I don't say "no" ever.

My uncle can't tell a story without drawing a picture. Many family members are good artists, I had shown talent young but my parents properly and resoundingly beat that notion out of me. I enjoy looking at lines. The inker part. the difference between a painting and a comic is the black lines between the illustrations. That is what I enjoy, after thinking about it far too long. I enjoy books, movies, TV, conversation but they are far below enjoyment I get from comic books.

I would push limits to see where things are on my scale. I once played a video game while on ecstasy eating sherbert with the music turned up while having sex. I asked myself how could I make this situation better? I called my work and quit, spent the next days reading comics and napping. It's a weird combo of fetish and nostalgia and escapism.

    Thanks for asking.
