I was very impressed. I'm usually not a fan of Fraction's work, nor am I a fan of Hawkeye, but this was a lot of fun. Easily my pick of the week.

My Pick of the Week:
This Week (02/06/2013): New Avengers #3
Last Week (01/30/2013): Mara #2
I'm a big pre-52 Green Arrow fan and this book was the best Green Arrow story I have read in quite sometime.Bravo Marvel for giving us archer fans a bone to chew.Viva La Hawkeye
Meh. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. Certainly not deserving of a 4.5/5 star rating as far as I'm concerned. But based on the raging hard-on people seem to have about this creative team, I suspected that even if this debut were a complete turd it still would have gotten rave reviews.
PROS
-I really liked the gritty realism of the narrative. I liked that Clint doesn't always use full sentences, for example.
-We get into Clint Barton's head and get to see him as a real person who is not with the Avengers
CONS
-Like others have mentioned, it jumped around the story's timeline so much that it was really jarring (and not necessarily in a good way)
-In spite of the fact that we are getting a glimpse into Clint's head, I didn't really feel like there were any story-telling elements that distinctly made this a Hawkeye story. I feel like it could just as easily have been Daredevil or Punisher or any other street-level hero. In this way, I thought it was a touch generic. As someone who doesn't know very much about Hawkeye, therefore, it didn't do very much to pull me into the character
-I am a HUGE dog-lover and I felt like the subplot with the dog was emotionally manipulative.
-I didn't like the art. Not. At. All.
I would give this book maybe 3/5 stars. I will try the first arc and see how it goes from there.
Probably not, any more than it'll ever be acknowledged that the landlord was breaking all kinds of laws, from trying to evict tenants without going through the process of getting a court order for eviction (and apparently before missing even a single rent payment, even if the rent could legally be tripled), making death threats, refusing to accept payment of rent according to the terms of the lease, not to mention assault and attempted murder and cruelty to animals. Clint could easily have had him arrested rather than simply paid off and sent away.
No, though it's funny how his thought captions mention growth as one of the superpowers, like that isn't one he's had himself...
And really, it didn't make sense how much the bad guys in this piece, even outnumbering him, were able to manhandle him and bash him up. Even without his bow and arrow, this is a guy who's received hand to hand training from Cap, weapons training from the Swordsman, and ran around for an extended period of time as Ronin, a superhero who generally mixed it up in melee rather than making long range attacks. He may not be Cap or Iron Fist or Wolverine or even Daredevil, but a bunch of thugs, even with guns... he should have made a meal out of them with at most a few scratches.

I should mention that any nitpicks do NOT mean I didn't enjoy the heck out of this issue, art and story both.
I see people mention they had trouble with the non linear story telling and I... I just don't know what to say to that. It was expertly done, and thus, very easy to follow. Anyone who had trouble with that, I feel sorry for you, because you missed some expert craft at work.
And man, who are these people that don't like Aja?! I guess it isn't Marvel's usual over rendered, shiny coloring stuff, but this was brilliant cartooning. The body language Aja uses and makes look easy was just... again, some master-class level stuff.
If Hawkeye gets a dog sidekick I will die of joy.
What is this, Horseville? Because I'm surrounded by naysayers.
I thought they were done pretty well, except for the part where he gets thrown through the window. With the way they had the mobsters walk up and shout to him, next panel of a window pane, then him thrown thru a window pane, made it seem like he was thrown out of the vet's. A momentary thing, but it would have helped to have maybe one sunny and one dark, or something.
I have to say if this book works then Fraction would have had two books I've liked this year with this and Defenders. That's quite a comeback given that before those two, the last book I enjoyed by Fraction had been The Order(that was in 2005, I think?).
Kurt Busiek Says:"Best Avengers Run, Steve Englehart's run in the 1970s. With Roy Thomas's run that preceded it close behind, and the Conway/Shooter/Michelinie run that followed close behind that
Nah, you're condescending remarks are allowed, too. So are mine.
