Breathe deep, seek peace!
Haven't bought the issue yet, but the revelation about Storm and Black Panther alone make this issue worth treasuring. I'm glad that happened. I'm glad Marvel found a way to end a marriage without killing someone for once. But one concern I have is Emma coming off as the victim. The whole "The Phoenix is turning me into something" to me sounds a whole like the old "they made me do it!" remark that a three-year-old makes when they act out. I think that's a bit demeaning for Emma, but I'll wait and see for myself what the scene does. Once she and Cyclops are the only ones with the Phoenix, it's sure to get that much more volatile.

The only good thing about this issue IMO (aside from the Storm/BP thing that is, for those who care about that), as Hope going back to Utopia means that it might finally be time for her father to wake up.-Issue ends with Cyclops ripping his way through the dimensional barriers to K'un-Lun and telling Hope its time to come home.
Sheesh! This issue was bad...really bad. The X-men are now clearly the villains so what happened to that even-handedness the writers and editors were preaching awhile back!?
Illyana's "volcano-prison" was magically created. Strange could not affect it. Yet the All-Goddess conjures lighting and tears it apart. I just love it.
This was a joke LMAO. Trolling, and someone got paid to do it. Like, for real, is this fanfic? Can this be over now? I just can't deal....LOL.
Ill take Uncanny Avengers over this base model mess.
I also made a post on the Avengers' board-- you are entirely right-- Emma is playing some weak, victim/damsel in distress. That's not just a bit demeaning for Emma, but it does fit with AvX all out assault on Emma. I'm thinking there are a lot of options for Emma here. One thing that makes me a bit at east about the whole Emma thing is that so far Cyclops has been very resolute against killing. I don't think Emma will kill an Avenger directly. I think they will push her a bit harder with the whole avenging mutants aspect, and then pull her back before she goes too far-- ie killing an Avenger. Could be wishful thinking though. I guess I can't see Marvel doing such an all out troll on Emma.
At the beginning of AvX Wolverine was telling Captain America that Cyclops has issues when it comes to the Phoenix because it's the reason why his fakeJean died. Emma will probably be put in the exact same situation BUT this time their love will prevail. That would give closure to this Phoenix nonsense once and for all, since that's what it seems like they want to do. Still don't think Emma's dying.
I'd find it very unlikely Emma dies. Uncanny Avengers mentions "The funeral of one of Marvel’s greatest heroes!". She wouldn't fit that.

Heh. With Jason Aaron at the helm, at least this issue was significantly better scripted than the last, but the whole event still reeks. There were actually some nice character moments here (especially for Storm, and I don't mean just the annulment either), but the relentless demonisation of the Phoenix Five is shockingly laughable. Some really bizarre artistic choices here too, like why did Charles go all "focused totality" and produce psi-blades? Looking back, it seems like his coat sprouted a fur lining at some point too. I miss Illyana's superior costume already.
Completely agree. At least then it would be consistent.
