Damn it, now I have to sort this out.

One: A-squared is right. Jean was only in the cocoon in Avengers (vol. 1) #263, and was freed in Fantastic Four (vol. 1) #286. She was obviously free in X-Factor.
Two: Cyclops left Madelyne at home when Warren called him and said Jean's alive. He made one phone call home, in X-Factor (vol. 1) #2, but was running around all googly-eyed over Jean.
Three: Even if you put the onus of Cyclops leaving Maddie solely on Scott, there's still the fact that during X-Factor (vol. 1), Jean managed to break up Warren and Candy Southern, for getting too cozy with Warren.

Whether she was trying or not, she had a knack for busting up couples.


Now let's get back to Storm celebration! Maybe Teen Jean can telepathically prevent Storm from getting back with Forge (who's totes not dead), like her adult self did.
