Nobody cares about Iron Fist or Professor X, their deaths with be collectively met with a resounding meh. Also, Jean Grey has canonically only ever died once, and never come back.

The conversation caught my eye. I think Iron Fist and Prof X are reasonable choices, same with Panther. We think Marvel is going to do a big death cause they have said they would, as though Marvel would ever admit that they were aiming for something mid-level. "Uncanny Avengers 1: A funeral for a fairly well liked Marvel hero!"

Whatever happens, they have to talk it up.

If someone does die, wouldn't it make thematic sense for it to be Beast? He's both an Avenger and an X-Man, so it's the kind of blow that would be felt by both teams.

Why does everyone think it'll be Iron Fist?

IMO it will be Rulk- he is being replaced by his daughter in his solo ongoing.

He declared war on the P5 significantly Cyclops in the latest Avengers issue after attempting to assassinate him. He can't reveal who he is. I mean there is a lot pointing to it being him.


Another character I could see it being is Nick Fury the first. He is being essentially replaced by his "son" in the Marvel NOW rebranding. Maybe he will have his final stand to save the world. Though highly unlikely.


My other thoughts would be one of the P5... Colossus or Emma specifically.
Emma has been on her way out especially in the last few issues with her quietly going behind Cyclops' back.
Colossus because he is beginning to question his actions as one of the P5, see the latest WATXM for this.


My money is still on Rulk.

They're probably going to kill one (and only one) character in this event, and I doubt it'll be Iron Fist. He's just not important enough for the emotional gut-punch this event is supposed to throw.

The Phoenix 5 may end up in a coma for the foreseeable future, but I think they'll survive. Professor X seems like the obvious choice to me.

Um Why? Cap has been a complete jerk for the last several years but people love him. Emma is a diva because it's how she survived, not because being a b1tch is her secretly letting on that she's evil. If so then Jennifer Walters must be on Doom's level of evil because she is RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE.

Well, they just killed Spider-man in Ultimate so I don't think that will happen again, but Spider-Man's death was bold! They won't kill Wolverine! It's about actually about shaking the hornets' nest on the message boards. I really think Marvel tries to do this. I actually thought Iron Man would be a great death. Red Hulk would be a good choice in general, but I think a lot of fans are mixed as to whether he's scum or hero... and I think he's confirmed alive anyways. They shoulda killed Hope. I just don't like her. Sorry. I don't like calling for character deaths...

They've done that all the dang time with Emma-. It means very little. She could live, she could die. They spoiled Cyclops' surviving again, so they are being tight-lipped about Emma.

I know I'm sounding silly by now, but I don't see where Prof X dying came from. Iron Fist has been boosted up big time in Bendis New Avengers, unless he is confirmed for alive, then I think he at least has a foot in the death pool. Black Panther is a good choice. He is supposed to become some sort of god of the Wakandan dead or something anyways, so yes Hickman is using the character, but the character will probably be physically dead. I think doing this in AvX will be a great way to get people talking about Black Panther. And of course, Emma is still on the list.

Prof. X and Beast seem like good candidates.

The death should theoretically lead to Avengers and X-Men squashing their beef and realizing that norms and muties should be working together. Chuck or Hank would seem to accomplish this.

As much as I love Emma, her death doesn't really mean anything except old Cyclops being able to skip the break-up and get right on banging teen-Jean.

(Hope it's the Professor because I love Beast too.)
