"And in a few years, some rebellious little kid is going to turn up at your school with me on his t-shirt. 'Cyclops was right.'"
Riff Trax and MST3K don't disguise what they do as "reviews."

He actually stated that his rant in his Top 15 Comics I'll Never Review video was just that, a rant. He also takes heavy influence from MST3K.
I find Linkara to be pretty irritating but I watched his whole review and every single one of his points was spot on. Whatever you thought about the marriage, OMD was just a bad story and didn't need to be told. I don't see why they couldn't have just gotten a divorce. Rushing into a marriage and realizing that it doesn't work out leading to a bitter divorce is definitely something stupid young people would do, it doesn't age the character at all. Just have Peter drop some offhand reference to Gwen or something, boom. Kind of pointless to harp on this kind of stuff so long after the fact, but I think the criticism does help keep Marvel honest to a degree.
Because people like the book now. And we wouldn't have that without OMD. The problem is that is a false argument. Because it is still possible to enjoy the book now and still think the execution of OMD was a project that any creative writing professor would have failed. OMD could have AND should have been better.
And I'm a sucker for a good tragedy. I love the works of Mohiro Kitoh, a manga creator who has worked on a number of stories about dying children.
The real problem as I see it is that One More Day represents such a failure on basic story telling principles that I wonder why I, as a reader, should invest in the Marvel Universe if they're willing to publish such crap because they need Spider-Man to be single. And I understand that marriage is antithetical to serialized fiction. Now earn the break-up. OMD is unearned. And quality doesn't matter so long as the characters get where they need to be.
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Personally, I like to read reviews about comic books instead of watching a video that's going to last longer than the story being discussed.
So the format just doesn't work for me. It seems a little indulgent.
And then he does the review in-character. And that suggests that the priority isn't to give his honest opinion, which is the main thing I look for in reviews. And his character is really damn annoying.
I'll note that all of this could apply just as easily to the guy who did those Star Wars prequel youtube reviews, but I thought those were great.

I hate that guy's voice. I imagine that's the point on some level, buuuttt...
Anyway. When you're entire shtick relies on negativity, I don't feel like I should be an enabler by adding to your site hits. Hence why I haven't watched this guy's OMD review. It's very likely nothing I haven't heard before.
I know Kevin Nichols through a guy that knows a gal. Small world!
If nihilism didn't take some delight in destruction one might suspect nihilists were an unnaturally morbid sort.
