This repetitiveness is what I noticed after issue 48. I know it can be realistic in once sense if a zombie threat did occur, but I don't feel a connection to the characters (still like Rick, Andrea, and Sophia...please don't tell me if they die.)

I read on and read up to hardcover 7, and I see that the pattern continues with Rick and the gang finding a new place, bad thing happen at new place that force them to leave, then find another new place, and the cycle continues.

everybody says that, but really, how many places have they found? like, 3... the farm (for all of about 3 issues... so really, does that even count?), the prison, and Alexandria, where they still are.

am I forgetting anywhere? I don't think I am. outside of that they've just been on the road in search of. so I don't really think it's a very good criticism. if the book has gotten boring for you that's one thing, but where's this criticism really coming from?

Oh, I know. it seems your point was that Kirkman should cancel his wildly popular comic once you've decided it's gotten boring.

I never fit into these polls---I need an option: Not enjoying it, but haven't dropped it and still the first book off my pile I read and the one I am most likely to reread
Banned once...and still pissed about it. Well, okay...more like annoyed about it.

Yep, because I still don't know what to expect issue by issue, and because Kirkman has gotten me to the point where I care about most of the characters.

I can't stand the writing anymore. It goes around in circles, and every once in awhile Kirkman kills off a character. Then everybody says "anything can happen!". The truth is, nothing is happening.

    Huh...
I've always read the trades until I started pulling issues with Something To Fear. I've never felt the story was going in circles. In fact, they've been pretty linear in my book. Could be the format with which I've been reading. I'm also one of those rare cases where I read through volume 8 and then didn't pick it up until volume 13 was out, got caught up again and then waited till 16 etc. so I've been reading for years with years in between. I've never been bored with it. I could see how monthly issues may have dragged on after the cannibal arc. What has suprises me most was the death of Abraham. He seemed like he had a lot of development left. I really thought he and Rick would come to a head soon. Maybe Kirkman wanted to go another direction and Abraham would have been an obstacle. He is the Boba Fett of the whole series though going out like that. I'm excited about where the saviors will take us. I don't think it's going to be predictable. I enjoy the slow burn of the series. After all, Kirkman did tell us the whole point if the zombie story that doesn't end. I'm not expecting a conclusion so to me it's just living life with these people and seeing where it takes us. I can't imagine folks getting rougher than the saviors. Maybe some military operation down the road is next? By the way... How much "real time" would you say has went by in the series? A year? Six months? Has Kirkman said? It would be interesting to know what the hell is going on in the rest of the world. Like if North America is quaranteened and China or Russia is getting ready to "cleanse" us?

It's snowed twice in the series, so a year and a half is, I believe, the current rough measure of time.

It does get slow as single issues. I wish I could just wait for the HCs to stack up, but I need my crack. Though, 100 left me not caring too much. Felt like enough of a conclusion, there being no big cliffhanger and all. Still, I know I'll keep reading. I hope it 'picks up' a bit, though.

As said above, the repetition isn't something I've felt, or even think exists when thinking back on the book. Nobody has countered my argument of that claim yet, so...

Yeah, I figured the weather patern was there just too lazy to look back and see. If a year and a half has went by then my bet is the globe is affected. Otherwise they woulda carpet bombed us a long time ago. You know, I'm excited for what's to come. I don't think I've wanted somebody to get theirs as much as I do for the saviors. The governor was handled pretty satisfyingly by Michonne so I wasn't as blood thirsty for him. I'm wondering if we will see the folks of Woodbury again? Maybe the calvary?

That's my feeling too. It feels to me like a lot of people seem to have it in their head that they know how Alexandria is going to end, that's going to be similar to prison arc end. Until we actually see it I'm going to call BS.

Personally I've read this entire series in trade up until recently. And I have to say if your read this book issue to issue I could see people getting bored. This is a very slow paced series, always has been. It reads far better in trade.

I've never read the series but issue #100 was the best selling issue in Jul. Wasn't expecting this at all. I wonder if the TV show helped?

I do this with all my issues. I wait until an arc is over and read the entire arc in one sitting. The story flows better and it's easier to follow. Plus, you don't have to search your memory for what happend last month.

Well if you are counting the farm you should probably count that estate they went to just before, and maybe even the camp where Rick first met the orginal survivors. But, I wouldn't count them.

Just two places they have settled down in for more than a few issues - I agree.

I think it really has gotten very stale and repetitive. Not to say I hate it but it seems like theonly thing that keeps me reading is wondering who may die at any second. Thats the only hook the book has right now to me. I loved all the way up through the prison arc and my favorite run so far has been from #1 until they get to the prison. That was the books best running. Personally, i love Tony Moores art, i think it is so much more detailed and not-sketchy looking like Adlards so ive read the first 6 issues like a billion times lol.

But yes, I think something really drastic needs to happen. not just a crazy death (Glenn) but maybe like jump forward into the future or something and show Carl grown up and as the lead character or something just drastic in the story itself.

I've read all 100 books within a period of 2 months. I do understand why people think its repetitive. The same themes repeat themselves - finding food, maintaining a home base, making friends, zombie defense, and evil gangs. I just finished 100 this morning and I definitely plan on reading to see how they deal with the latest threat.
