Default Be honest...do you still enjoy following the Walking Dead?

Are you still reading it? Has the series gotten stale? Have you dropped it all together?

I have read the hardcovers so I'm only up to issue #84 and don't know if it gets better or slower after that.

Please let me know how it goes without spoilers. In other words, does it get good or bad or the same (which would be kinda bad).

    Thanks.

I thought it treaded water a little around the point you're at. Sometimes I think I buy it out of habit, I loved the first few years but it seemed to get into a cycle of repetition- find a safe haven, have a problem with people there, things screw up, move on, find a safe haven etc etc.

I thought I might stop after issue 100 - not because of what happened in that issue, but just because it feels like a good 'jumping off' point. But I've got a feeling I'll probably be buying 101 as well...

Still reading, but it's about the same. There hasn't been enough character work lately, IMO. Lots of shock stuff, but not enough character work to make me say the book isn't a bit stale at this point.

It's a great comic, kinda like Superboy done right. I like reading it every month and enjoy it, but since the ending of the last war it has been a hit and miss every issue. Great book, but not nearly the best. Though, when Thragg dies, I'm bailing, he's the one pulling all the weight.

Somewhat enjoying it, thinking about dropping it. Getting tired of the same cycle of major characters getting killed when it gets stale, seems like more of a gimmick now than storytelling.

Dropped it around #70. I've since bought cheap copies of the couple or three subsequent TPBs, but haven't worked up enough interest to open them.
I tend to split superhero comics fans into "People who like Krypto" and "People who don't like Krypto."
Basically, if you miss the wonder of a dog flying around in a little Superman cape, you're in the wrong hobby.

I read it in Trade only. But if i read it monthly i could see getting burned out on it. Its 100 issues of ppl trying to find somewhere to live basically. But i will say that with the prices of back issues,The popularity of the TV show and the critical acclaim it gets. Its been awhile since i seen something be this widespread popular.

Just to clear things up - this post is in response to the Invincible question.

In regards to The Walking Dead - I'm still loving it. It has always been a really good read for me. I do understand why some people feel it's gotten slow or less enjoyable lately, but as a fan I've still greatly enjoyed it and feel that it's still better than most other stuff out there. Still well worth the read even if you don't think it's as good as it used to be.

It's not that it got stale necessarily but after issue 100 I just don't care enough about anyone left alive and that the issue at the end of that issue is going to stick around a long while... well... I guess I found my limit of doom and gloom I can take.

No, the prison arc left a bad taste in my mouth.

It's on thin ice at the minute. Thought #100 was terrible but I'll see out the "Something to Fear" arc and make a decision after that.

the Alexandria arc hasn't been it's best. it isn't bad, but it's got some down time, and characters that aren't really fleshed out enough to care when they die.
Kirkman said that 100 will change the type of stories they're going to be telling, and I hope that's true. the book could certainly use a shake up.

however, I don't feel that it's a bad book. it's a quick read, and lord knows I have 20 minutes once a month to see how life if going for Rick and his gang of survivors.
I find the survival aspect the most interesting of it all. I wish it played up that a little more. part of my problem is that I don't care about the place they live. it's a bunch of houses. it's boring to look at, and there's nothing they 'built' there to be invested in.

I wish it was a more dynamic setting, like the prison. visually, I mean.
