What I want to know is, where are Swordsman and Yellowjacket? They survived Chaos War: Dead Avengers, they appeared (or at least, Yellowjacket did) towards the end of the main book, but they haven't been seen since, while Alpha Flight immediately spun off into their own book. Swordy's one of my all-time favourite Avengers, if he's alive again, I want to see him used!

Look at Nightcrawler, one of my favorite X-Men of all time, almost an afterthought death in a crappy mini X-event. I hated deaths like Illyana back in the day, or when her brother Colossus sacrificed himself to cure the disease that killed her, but at least the deaths had meaning. I am glad they're back though, and would still be glad if they were background characters instead of front and center in the biggest Marvel event since Civil War.
Well said. I'll take a resurrection over a pointless death any day of the week.

Betty Ross. I never asked to have her returned and become another derivative Hulk.
I wanted Bruce to move on. Her resurrection was as moronic and pointless as DC bringing back Jason Todd.
All she's adds nothing to the Marvel U other than to promote Marvel's lack of faith in diverse characters
in favor of more derivative characters overwhelming today's market.

I don't know about Mockingbird's "hey I was a Skrull" resurrection, but her more recent not-quite-resurrection (from being shot in New Avengers) would qualify for me. She's a super soldier like Cap plus whatever Nick Fury is, and her new role on the team is to -- fly the plane?

And Scott Lang's resurrection in Children's Crusade seemed like pointless cruelty to me. Yes, he got to see his daughter again -- for all of two or three hours and then suddenly she was dead.

Based on what I've read, at the end of Chaos War, Herc gave up his power in order retcon the entire event causing both Swordsman and Yellowjacket to return to being dead.

It's there. He's back and he brought it with him.

I actually think the large majority of super hero resurrections are pointless, and have succeeded in (in my view!) totally undermining the impact of death stories in super hero comics.

There are about a couple of dozen Marvel characters that have to stay around (Spideman, FF, Iron Man "level" characters). The rest should be "fair game". For example, Jean Grey should never have come back.

Does anyone actually care that there are three guys who turn into fire running around? No.
No one cares that the original Human Torch or Toro came back... Johnny Storm is the only one worth a damn.

There's about as many pointless deaths as there are pointless resurrections. If they'd stop killing characters for shock value, then other writers wouldn't have to waste time brining them back.

Although I'm confused about Daken. Did anybody really like him when he was alive the first time?

I liked him. He was a different kind of villain. Like a Hannibal Lecter style villain instead of what we usually get.

I Lol'd when Carey brought her back! I wanted her back and used to ask him about her on his Facebook but I was so shocked that he used his final two issues of his Legacy to bring her back! Now she hasn't been seen since!
