I like Brad Bird as a choice. Cuaron is someone I would've never thought of, but his take might be interesting. I'd go with Neveldine/Taylor just to see what they'd dream up.

Aronofsky and Fincher's Batman would be even darker than Nolan's. I'm afraid we'd get into some risible and disgusting material for sure with either of those guys. (With Fincher, you might as well count on rape and/or serial killing.)

WB won't let the rating go past PG 13 anyway.

Nolan already out-Finchered Fincher with The Dark Knight.

Del Toro's a good director but his Blade 2 and The Devil's Backbone aren't up there with Nolan's best. Also I'm not sure if his take would be that different from Tim Burton's.

We've already seen plenty of the Dini-Timm version of Batman. The movies need to showcase new interpretations, not fall back on comforting old ones.

Aronofsky came up with a terrible take on Batman. He had Alfred as a car mechanic and Bruce Wayne as an angry, poor sociopath.

Brad Bird would be an OK choice but not one that fills me with enthusiasm.

Maybe they could switch tack completely and make the next series an all-action one. Justin Lin (Fast and Furious) and Gareth Evans (The Raid) would be good choices for that.

Frank Miller wrote that script, not Aronofsky.

They both did the script. At least Miller has the benefit of the doubt for writing the original Year One.
