I would like a movie shot from a young Robins POV. The trials of losing your folks and then becoming a ward to richest man in town during the day and learning to fight crime by night. A "batman" movie that has Batman as a secondary character would be refreshing.

I'm really just interested in good stories period. I will say though that there do need to be more stories that concentrate on the detective aspect of Batman's character. There doesn't seem to be anything like that right now at least not in the Bat titles I'm reading anyway.
Current Top Ten Comics: Earth 2, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Talon, Demon Knights, Transformers: Regeneration One, Young Avengers, Batman Beyond Unlimited, Nightwing, Flash, Aquaman

Detective work, new threats emerging, less involvement with all the other Bat-Related peeps, Bats is a LONER!

Please disregard my post above. For some reason I read the title of this thread as "What type of Batman MOVIE story would you like to see"

These, plus as far as the traditional rouges gallery is concerned I would love to see more stories like The Man Who Laughs, like an origin story on the Batman Catwoman relationship. And no more sci-fi, please. Batman sci-fi so rarely works out well.

I agree with you all the way.

Azzarello can do realistic and street level like Nolan, but Nolan is sentimental, balanced, even optimistic. Azzarello would drown everything in grimdark. After all, Nolan capped his story and in those 8 years between the last two films batman was inactive, so there isnt any time periods that a writer could write about. Nolan closed all the doors.

I'd rather they leave it alone, seeing how well it all ended with a nice bow.

About the only thing that is off in that story, I found, is that the Batman had little to no knowledge of how child molestation played into later criminal activity, which seemed near impossible for a man who'd dedicated his life to combating crime.
I bought the 2 part comic when it came out but i didnt know that it was a novel too.

I agree with what you say about him having little to no knowledge about how child molestaiton plays a part in future crime.
However the most distracting thing to me was (spoilers but not quite) the fact that Thomas and Martha Wayne seem to be made out as saints in each story/continuity that i read. I mean i am sure they are nice people, but come on!! Billionaire couple who own half of Gotham who happens to also be fighting kiddie porn behind the scenes in their spare time that noone knew about that Alfred kept secret for all these years only to tell Bruce now when he happens to be concentrating on taking down kiddie porn guys? Come on!! (end sorta spoilers)

Yeah; that's as unbelievable as a rich kid growing up and dedicating himself to fighting crime in all it's forms dressed up as a gaint bat...

    ...oh...wait...

What i'd like to see is a story that focuses on the effects that being Batman has on Bruce's life, how he's so obsessed with his mission that every other aspect of his life suffers from it, how he pretty much dosn't have any other purpose of being.

I always liked it when they explored that paticular facet, especially in Batman Beyond, were they indicated, that, at one point, Bruce lost himself so much in the whole crime fighting thing, that pretty much everyone close to him turned his back on him.

I think there's great potential for interesting character driven stories there, which is what i prefer in general, anyway.

    You mean like this:

Bruce Wayne: That's a brazen costume for a cat burglar.
Selina Kyle: Yeah? Who are you pretending to be?
Bruce Wayne: Bruce Wayne, eccentric billionaire.

Honestly? I think I've seen just about every kind of Batman story that I care to. Darker stories; lighter stories. Sidekicks; loner. Grounded; zany. Brains; brawn. Victory; defeat. Young; old. Epic; episodic.

I can't think of anything more that I would want from the character.

Detective work is a MUST – and not contrived stuff, either. Do the traditional stuff, maybe even correct the work of some GCPD detectives. For example, Gordon could outline what they’ve determined about a suspect’s gait from some footprints and Batman could point out that it’s an act.

The blockbuster ‘super-heroics’ can wait a few years – let’s get ‘down and dirty’ for now…

    As others have suggested:

Have him take down a child smuggling/paedophile ring (and not tied to the Wayne family).

    Also:

    Take down a (drugs/weapons) supply chain outside of Gotham (get him out of his comfort zone (he's not bound by jurisdictions));
A family of serial killers - a tradition passed down from generation to generation, done so exactly it's as if the same killer has been active since before Gotham was founded

    Cold Cases!

    Cornelius Stirk...

Mad Hatter - only with a bit of a twist: someone has stolen the Hatter's tech and has a 'Sorting Hat'...and believes themselves to be The Dark Lord...

I would like to see a interaction with Jason now that Jason isn't constantly rage driven. Not saying Jason needs to come back in the fold, but see where he now stands to Bruce with what Bruce is seeing from Damian having no problem with killing. How would Bruce handle Jason asking about Damian's actions to him?

I would like a story that shows Gotham is actually getting better.

Prereboot, at times, Batman seemed preineffective.
