Default Nightwing and Redbird ....make it happen!

This would be an excellent way to keep the Dick/Damian chemistry in a new book, and at the same time, return Tim back to being Robin which I have always felt is "his" title. Bruce and Tim go together as excellent as Dick and Damian have in the original Batman & Robin run.

    And that is that.

But "Robin" was originally Dick's "title", though it was later retconned to being Bruce who first wore the costume.

Tim was third in line to be Robin, after Dick and Jason.

Really no reason why Tim needs to regress to just being "Robin" (without an adjective) at this point.

I would like if Damian became a regular supporting character in the Nightwing solo title (along with a reintroduced Cass Cain), but I see no need for another Bat title.

I could go for that. I like the dynamic between Dick and Damian far better than the dynamic between Bruce and Damian. I still think DC dropped the ball there. And we definantly don't need another Bat title. We have plenty.

    Wait, what?
When did Bruce wear a Robin costume?

    Actually, I was thinking of something a little earlier . . .

(Wasn't even aware of the later one.)

Wasn't Bruce being Robin also retconned later?

Hey, it was the 1950's . . . a lot of that stuff may not make sense these days (except to Grant Morrison).

Actually, in the story, I believe young pre-Batman Bruce was in training and sought to learn from a famous detective, but didn't want to let the guy know who he was. So he somehow came up with that costume to disguise himself. (The detective figured out who Bruce was, though.)

It's been explained in the comics (obviously pre-reboot) that although dick was the first (not counting Bruce. Cuz it's silly) robin, he was always meant for more than a sidekick role. He was born and bred to be a leader. So him Outgrowing robin was inevitable. Tim's role as robin is much more solidified since its foundation was built on the idea that batman needs a robin. And Tim wanted to be robin. Nothing more. He wanted to be the element that to him was most important to batmans grounding as a person.

Which is why I've always thought Damian throws off the batman family vibe. I'd be perfectly happy with dick taking him and having Tim return to Bruce's side As robin. Tim is just floating around now. He's red robin but he doesn't really have an important role in dc anymore. I miss the days of him as robin.

So Tim was created to be destined to be a Robin forever and never grow up? Seems a bit harsh.

In a world where batman is in his early 40s forever I don't think it's too far fetched. And it's not so much that he'll never grow up. It's just that he won't go further than being robin, he was created to be robin and meant to be robin. I mean..... Look what happened when they tried to replace him as robin. No one wants to read about red robin. He was cool but It survived on the idea that he was long for Bruce (prereboot). Other than that it wasn't all that special. Tim is a great support character. I don't see what's so wrong with that. Not every young character has to grow up to be an a class hero on their own. I haven't come across anyone who's ever said they didn't like Tim as robin. Don't try to fix what isn't broken
