Magdalene's real name is "Marissa", so, yeah, it's a code derived from Magdala, a coastal village on the sea of Galilee ... Magdalene > Luke Cage, ya dig?!

Not...really. So...first off, it was a pretentious codename because it was basically a real name, and now it's a pretentious codename because it's not? How is the name of a village in Galilee anything like Luke Cage? I'm not seeing any similarity. Or is it the Biblical connection that's the problem? And where did you get "Marissa" from?

i have different needs. i can agree to disagree. my immediate reaction to Magdalene is repulsion. she smells like the bad 90s era of comics; like she could be a member of the Wildc.a.t.s.

Marrisa Darrow was the name of the model that was Magdalene's template in this dimension, her 616 version, who she had to kill so she could stay here.

I always thought it would be fun to see them turn up in the Squadron Supreme universe, since they all left 616 through the same dimensional portal. Though I would guess that Magdalene would be pretty redundant with Power Princess.

Though there was nothing in the actual comics to say so, it has been stated that the Avengers that survived the end of the Dead Avengers mini went back to the realm of the dead when Hercules reset everything. Only Alpha Flight survived. Though I would love to see that the two of them survived... more Yellowjacket than Swordsman, but I'll take both.

As for Magdalene's name being Marissa, just because her template was Marissa Darrow, doesn't mean hers was. After all, it seems that Swordsman II, Philip Javert's 616 template was the original Swordsman, Jacques Duquesne.

I remember that, but I don't think it was ever established that it was Magdalene's name as well, was it? As far as I know, her name is Magdalene.

Stated where? And by whom? I don't think I've read this is any actual comic.

I want to see them both again...

    That's my thinking, too.

I like the idea of a Swordsman who is sort of the Swordsman we've known but different and younger and with less baggage and less of the cliche Musketeer whatever with the stupid mustache. I would like to see him annoy Hawkeye a bit, even showing in Hawkeye's book as supporting cast. Plus France doesn't have a lot of heroes.

Love it but I'd rather he be a Spaniard. All you people who want a Swordsman villain make me want to cry. Aren't there enough baddies and chicks with swords out there? Can't we get one male hero with a sword?
    I like swords.

This here. If we have a sword guy, I prefer Black Knight.

Is there a single character in the Marvel Universe you actually like?

Stated in a few interviews by Tom B. As I said in my post, it was never stated in any comic itself... so it can still be changed.

I preferred Strucker as the Swordsman, but Magdalene is welcome back, especially if it leads to a return of the Gatherers.
Looking forward to the new Kid Loki book & Morbius.
