haha, i have to agree with the stingray nomination. i like him, but only really as namor's punching bag. he is better when he's doing scientific stuff, not crimefighting.
hmmm in no particular order
Swordsman
Moondragon
Starfox
Jack of Hearts
Rage
Triathalon
Mantis
Two Gun kid
Mr. Fantastic
Sandman
How is Protector not on this list?
Okay, as Avengers, my list goes like this:
(Can't think of a particular order, also)
Echo
Deathcry (Loved the Harras - Epting era, but, UGH!)
Quake (Maria Hill was busy, so...)
Rage (like him as a New Warrior, but he had no place being an Avenger)
Rulk
Jewel (Retcon or whatever it was)
Two-Gun Kid (Are you kidding me)
Wolverine
Protector
Silver Claw (sorry Busiek, loved your run, but no)
Honorable mentions:
Sentry
Ares
Storm ( Hereby forever known as the 5 minutes Avenger)
Machine Man (For Pretty Much the same reason as Storm)
DarkHawk (Likewise)
Sandman
Daredevil
Moon Knight
Stature
Marrina
Dark Avengers are a group in itself, that should never be refered to as Avengers.
I may be forgetting someone, but everybody else, regardless of their performances as Avengers, I think had a place with the group (yes, even D-Man). Let's be clear that this is no comment on anybody's worth as a character, per say (Okay, maybe a couple) but as Avenger.
Peace
Edit: Dawm, I keep remembering honorable mentions.

My list of Avengers who were actually crappy Avengers, not just characters I happen not to like or I don't think belong or whatever:
1)Sentry-was clinically insane during entire term of membership, went full on bonkers, threatened Earth and had to be put down.
2)Dr. Druid-heel turned and betrayed team.
3)Deathcry-more than a little nuts, not of much use.
4)Quicksilver-heel turned twice, attacked team once.
5)Dman-only was let in because he was Cap's friend, never took part in any major missions.
6)Marrina-turned into a insane monster upon joining, had to be put down by Namor.
7)Ares-amoral berserzer working for paycheck.
8)Jewel/Jessica Jones-spent more time fleeing the Avengers than assisting them (granted she had good reason).
9)Moondragon-heel turned, enslaved entire planet, sexually assulted Thor.
10)Hellcat-only was let in because she used to $%^& Beast (read between the lines), didn't stay on team very long.
Jessica Jones
Spider-Woman l
Luke Cage
Ares
Wolverine
Sentry
Triathlon
Black Widow
Venom (Flash)
Spider-Man
Well, he has done a lot for the team during his tenure. He was a good tech based hero with natural super powers and advanced know-how of technology, both of earth and Kree variety. He was Tony Stark plus, even making up in areas where Tony wasn't an expert in, like time travel. Sure I suppose you could say that Tony filled the position well enough without him, but Noh Varr was clearly a good asset to have around. He was a valuable member, hell I think he's saved the day for the team like 4 times in less than 26 issues.
He gave the time machine that was needed to fix the time stream, he used old stark tech to fight of Red skull's forces, he corrupted Osborn's absorbed DNA with his own, he found a way to contain the phoenix properly (to no avail but he did it)
And I think there were other moments where having him a round came in handy. A horrible Avenger is somebody totally useless to the team or else down right annoying. While Noh varrs fish out of water personality was off-putting at times, he seemed to be a valuable member when it counted, so i goes that keeps him off the list.
Steve Rogers: You ready to follow Captain America into the jaws of death?
James Barnes: Hell, no! The little guy from Brooklyn who was too dumb not to run away from a fight. I'm following him."
Everything about Triathalon felt stupid to me. From his stupid costume to his stupid powers!
Olivier Coipel - The best damned artist on the planet!
Shout out to Kev Walker! You're doing a hell of a job!

Triathlon was okay at best. I liked Silverclaw though.
Stingray should not be on here. I don't think Rage should either. Oh come on Silverclaw was not that bad! STARFOX? Oh no they didn't.
Doctor Druid? Maybe, but again I don't see him nearly as bad as recent recruits. I also liked Deathcry, but didn't read most of her stint.
Only ones I actually agree about are Sentry, and maybe Triathlon.
Jessica Drew was a skrull, and then joined after, and did nothing. Despite being the original is the worst Spider-Woman.
My list:
Spider-Woman (Drew)
Jessica Jones
Wolverine (yay more shoving him down our throats. I'm sorry murderers don't belong on The Avengers. If the Punisher ever joins I will never touch the Avengers again)
Luke Cage
Storm (I mean why? Completely pointless)
Echo (how was she not on this list?)
Daredevil (again why? just because he was one of the few that hadn't been one yet?)
Sentry
Triathlon
Red Hulk (again he even wonders why he was on the team)
the only character on that list i care for is Sentry. i hated Triathlon and didn't care too much for Silverclaw either. those two characters are the only negative thing about Busiek's run.
My least favorites/idea of who comprises the worst of the worst among the ranks of the Avengers:
10. Star Fox
9. Quasar
8. Dr. Druid
7. D-Man
6. Silver Claw
5. Moon Knight
4. AntMan Scott Lang
3. Justice
2. Lionheart
1. The Sentry
PaperArt
XPOTM, 6/12
Hmm, not a bad list actually.
I don't agree with all of the pics tho'. Here's my own list:
10. Dr Druid ( mentally unstable monumental failure)
9. D-man ( mentally unstable bufoon. Not a bad character necessarily, but not an Avenger)
8. Moondragon ( I love to hate her bitchiness... but she is SERIOUSLY not Avengers-material.)
7. Silver Claw ( far too young at the time, and dreadfully boring)
6. Rage ( seriously... that costume? Clown-face in sleeveless leather-jacket?? Worst. Ever!)
5. Starfox... ( this man is NOT Avengers-material.)
4. Mantis ( stuck-up, selfish, and rather unheroic)
3. Thriathlon ( urr... I've got nothin' to say)
2. Swordsman ( self-aggrandising ex-con with a silly moustache)
1. DEATHCRY! ( Crazy, homicidal god-damn bitch. Seriously.)
Hmm... Why don't you like Quasar and Moon Knight? Are you skeptical of Moon Knight because of his INTENSE mental instability, by chance? He's an awesome character tho', never a dull moment.
But Quasar?? Why?? Is it because he has a fairly bland personality? There's not much to him other than his powers, I must admit. But his powers are splendid! He opens up an entire cosmic toy-box for the Avengers to play in.
I really wish more people could explain their dislike of certain Avengers, much like I have.
