Question Who has the more diverse teams: The AVENGERS or the X-MEN?

Diversity IS important in comics; not just skin colour, but gender, sexuality, religion and culture. So of the two mega-areas of Marvel; who does the better job of reflecting the world outside? Which group has moved on from 90% of the team being American, straight, white, male heroes; to a truly diverse team, where no-one is "more or less important" due to their race, or gender or sexuality. Which group has the more diverse teams?

I've tried to make the poll as varied as possible; apologies if the option you want isn't there. We are all flawed in God's eyes... even me.

I voted for the the X-men for no other reason than the X-women are wonderfully more diverse and interesting than the Avengers' women, who all seem to be exactly the same. Even Black Widow has turned into the girl who stands in the back and snarks at everyone.

I say tie. I don't use the Bendis Avengers as a template like some people.

I'm more of an Avengers fan than an X-Men fan, but, in this aspect, the X-Men own the Avengers. As large as the Avengers have gotten, the X-Men englobe a great deal more of teams, and, especially in recent years, Marvel has stuck the headliners in the Avengers, and those are, 90% of the time, white American guys. Ever since Giant-Size X-Men #1, the X-Teams have always had a more international flavour to them. So. X-Men for the win in this one.

    Peace

The X-men... but they need to be much, MUCH better with their black male characters.

I'd love for the New Mutants to become the official X-men and bring back guys like Synch and Bedlam.
My Heroes For Hire: Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, The Falcon, Ant-Man (Scott Lang). White Tiger IV and Powerman would be interns.

since the X-men grop themselves by their mutant status they are not diverse at all.

Let's see, sidelined, dead, useless, dead.

The X-Women were great in the 90s, now not so much.

Conflicted. Both lack diversity really. WATX aren't even an X-team so they shouldn't count and the team they actually do have from that is a bunch of teachers that are the same in Legacy.

    Diverse in Legacy: Frenzy

Uncanny Extinction team: Storm and Namor?

X-men: Storm, Domino?, Psylocke (maybe, but shes basically borrowing a body), Pixie?

New Mutants: Dani Moonstar, Sunspot, Warlock

X-men got rid of a lot of their actual "mutants". Everyone is pretty there so I dunno about their diversity as much.

I guess they edge out Avengers diversity only because the sheer number of different teams they possess.

I mean you add Avengers Academy and you net: Reptil, Hazmat, Mettle..

    Eh.....

Psyloch isn't dead... And Rogue isn't useless, and Storm isn't sidelined, if her upcoming fight in AvX vs is anything to go by. Try again.

Well, the running joke on the internet is that the X-Men was always "The Story of Racism as Told By White People". The addition of the all-new X-Men did inject some good ethnic and international diversity across the board, but aside from Storm all the non Caucasians were dead or had left after a few issues, unless you count Nightcrawler which you probably could.

In Avengers Academy, Striker's Gay, Julie Power's Bi and White Tiger is also Hispanic.

If they gave Young Avengers a book again you could make a case for calling it a near wash.

The one Native American character in Avengers, Echo recently got killed, but Moonstar and Warpath are still kicking.

On the other hand, there are no prominent African American males in the Xverse but the Avengers have Cage.

Shang Chi isn't an Avenger anymore but Jubilee still is (If you want to count Psylocke, that is 2 for the Xbooks.)
