Default F.J. DeSanto On Reinventing "Cyborg 009" For Mainstream Superheroes

Classic '60s cyborg superhero manga series "Cyborg 009" gets an American facelift from Archaia, and writer/producer F.J. DeSanto explains how he's keeping the series core while turning visuals over to Marcus To.

    That could be very interesting.
At least, it won't get the Jyuranger or Gatchaman treatment.
TO's design looks good, although 002 looks too young (and I can't get over the loss of his long nose)

Very excited about this. I don't remember much of the original story, but I remember it being one of my favorites.

Uh...I don't know how to feel...they're so hot and attractive, even 006.

I'm going to miss the quirk of the original designs.

So now they are muscle-y super-heroes and big-boobed bombshells? Come on, man. I guess I'm not against exploring the series' themes from a 21st century American perspective. Ishinomori's story was well ahead of its time in its use and criticism of the military-industrial complex, and it would be interesting to see if his ideas could be carried forward. But that art style just isn't doing it for me. To is a fine artist and I've enjoyed him a lot on other projects, but the style doesn't work for me here.

Truthfully, aside from taking out some of the stock visuals from that era of anime, it doesn't look awful, feels weird since I am a fan of the original but it doesn't look terrible, I just hope they can keep to the maturity that made the source material so great.

Edit: Didn't know about 009 RE: Cyborg, a quick google search however has me liking Marcus To's update then the movie's. But I always thought 002 was a red head.

In the original series he was.

Personally, I kind of like 002's redesign in both 009 Re:Cyborg and the Archaia graphic novel. I mean, seriously, you wouldn't meet anybody with a schnozz like Original!002's would you?

Don't know how to feel about it but I'll still give it a try because it 009 and 009 is one of the best mangas/character EVER created.

Both are great and add a great feel to the character.

Also, so what if he has a big nose? This are comics and creators are allowed to have fun/tweak people's anatomy.
