I agree with this, I wouldn't have put Nolan's Catwoman up there.

For me it's Nolan's Two-Face - he's my favourite Bat-villain, and he was portrayed perfectly. I don't buy into all this he-was-already-damaged crap, and seeing such a nice bloke get flipped over the edge was superb.

But I'll be honest, Nolan didn't really screw any of the characters over. And Cillian Murphy - what a genius bit of casting - IN ALL THREE!!!!

    Burton's Penguin and Catwoman.

Would have been Bane until we find out the fact that he's a phoney, nothing but a brute with the gift of the gab and a crush on the true mastermind.

I think what Cypher meant, was the ones that were in the 1966 Batman movie that rode (almost) in the same continuity of the show, if it weren't for Catwoman (Lee Meriwether) - she was beautiful though. Excluding Caesar Romero's character, always superb characterizations Burgess Meredith's Penguin and Frank Gorshin's Riddler were there also.

He's not my favorite, but I have to mention him because I got a kick out of him: Christopher Walken in Batman Returns.

Does'nt really diminish anything,he attacked the stock exchange, cut off Gotham, freed the inmates, hijacked the plane etc.Talia's plan was to infiltrate WE to secure the reactor.
and It's not like Pengi was'nt overshadowed by some businessman called Shrek or whatever.

How much of that was Bane's planning though? Seemed like he was the face, Talia was the mastermind.

And DiVito was brilliant as Penguin, a true improvement over the comic book version. Although i can understand if people found a bit too grisly. I liked how he was contrasted with Wayne. The whole nurture vs nature thing.

I think it was Bane was the theatricality while Talia was the deceptions,he most likely came up with those brilliant little schemes while Talia secured the bomb.I obviously cant prove this but I do find it hard to imagine Talia writing speeches.

That was a great character and a great performance. When he throws Selina out of the window is just classic!

Max Schreck. What a brilliant character. I always wish he would be reintroduced into the comics.

I'm not saying she was writing his speeches. I'm saying that she did all the planning, and he was the face and voice and muscle. Basically a brute with a silver tongue. There was also no respect from him towards Batman, which is kind of a defining trait of the character in the comics.

Like i said, he did have some great moments, i enjoyed Hardy's performance. But the character was wasted and the way he went out at the end was just pathetic.

....Well, OK, there was Return to the Batcave, but that's more like Julie Newmar, aswell as the entire cast, playing as themselves, or real people.

Going with this. I'm surprised Max Schreck isn't in the list, because the guy is basically the big bad of Batman Returns.

I'm happy to see so many people citing Schreck, Penguin and Catwoman. Sometimes I get the impression that nobody liked Batman Returns.
