Bad news everyone...
Finding out that the book is about time travel kinda explains a lot.
So Carol is captured by the Japanese? Here's 3 words for her to think about "Bataan Death March"!![]()
Hmm Bermuda Triangle. Heres hoping Carol teams up with a time displaced Amelia Earhart.
Time travel stories are hard to pull off and usually fail. I hope I'm wrong on all counts here though.
I also have to question the need for a time travel story so soon.
I sincerely hope the only reason Carol put her hands up when confronted by those goons is because she's afraid of messing up the timeline by influencing the outcome of the war.
I'm pretty excited for it. As a huge Doctor Who fan (amongst other things), time travel is one of my favorite tropes.
I've said this elsewhere and I'm probably repeating myself too much, but I think it serves multiple purposes. It picks up on the mentions of Carol's legacy/inspirations- female pilots and fighters who paved the way for her career in the Air Force/CIA/NASA and explores those in a fun way. The sci-fi nerd in her will probably be worried about messing up the time stream, while the superhero is going to want to fight. It's also a cool way to introduce an element of female heroes (the analogues to the Howling Commandos) into the history of the MU whereas it had been a mostly male space before. It's a nice way to add to the mythos without changing things. And, because the series is set post AVX and one would expect Carol to be playing a role in the larger landscape post AVX, it gets her out of the way until that event finishes so we avoid spoilers.
There's no such thing as repeating yourself TOO much on an internet forum, my friend. XD
And, I have to admit, I got nothing. I've no idea where Kelly Sue is going with this. I just know that outside of, say, Back To the Future, Days of Future Past and The Dreamer, time travel stories seem to fall on their collective face. Obviously, hoping for the best here, but bracing for the worst. If your thoughts play out, I'd be more than happy.
