I actually enjoyed Sins Past (I would had preferred that it had been Harry's and not Osborn's children).
OMD was for me bad in so many ways. It was to long ( Second and third felt like a complete waste of time), it had horrible plot points (No on can save May from a freaking bullet wound) and the reason for Mephisto wanting the marriage was stupid. and OMIT manage to make the OMD worse.
So yeah OMD for me, and I do think that it is the most hated of those two even though is probably a close one .

Of course it does help to have 1950s sensibilities and ideas about a woman't place to actually believe that...

Seriously though, some fans keep pointing to those early issues, but that was a characterization that lasted a lot less than an year - it was basically a holdover from Ditko's run, when Gwen started out as second banana (Liz Mk. 2) to Betty. Once she became "the one" for Peter, she became Little Miss Perfect (or NEW! IMPROVED! Betty Mk. 2).

I still can't see when some people say Gwen was portrayed as a perfect girl. Can someone give me examples?

    The Amazing Spider-Man movie.
The monster saved them all. And in their fear, they betrayed him. As they always have. As they always will.

Not a strong Spidey fan, but I'll weigh in...

Sins Past is about a villain doing something horrific; One More Day is about a hero doing something morally questionable. It's always easier to dismiss the wrongs a villain commits because, well, he's the villain. Not so easy to overlook Spidey violating the central tenet of his life because his aunt (who is not only ready to die but has asked him to let her go) is dying.

OMD also makes a whole swath of the Marvel universe look like fools. Reed Richards couldn't help heal a gunshot wound? Doctor Strange? Tony Stark? Useless.

The consequences of OMD are still around. Sins Past can easily be swept under the rug and I think it has, but Spidey's still a happy (?) bachelor.

OMD was fairly obviously a contrivance by the editor to erase a canonical detail he disliked. Bad enough; and then he tried to get the fans to accept a character named for his own daughter as Spidey's new beloved.

And lastly, OMD went against the wishes of Spidey's regular writer, who wrote it only because he was under contract.

Damning sins, all of them. I don't see how you can say a story featuring Norman Osborn as the villain can compare to a story featuring the Editor as a villain in the eyes of irate fans. The Editor has a lot more power than the Green Goblin

I don't disagree with your grievances, but I think that for most Spider-Man fans this comes down to the damage done to Gwen and Mary Jane.
His memory's gone! Or...is it? It's not hard to fake amnesia! The Goblin is capable of anything!

Don't know about other fans but I sure hate One More Day more than Sins Past.

It's just so very very bad.

Sins Past affected Gwen's character primarily, and who cares about that.

OMD affected Peter's character primarily, and that is everything in this book.

    Advantage: Sins Past

I actually enjoyed both stories, as stories. But of the two of them, I felt OMD was more detrimental.

I enjoyed Sins Past. The total destruction of Peter's character and continuity in OMD made me quit comics altogether after 27 wonderful years.

The fact that this statement is coming from a person called "CloneSaga" makes me laugh out loud.

Sins Past was changed by editor's mandatory too, so in that regard it's at the same level than One More Day.
