That's a title I would definitely read.
sure. but it'd just be a retread of Eric O'Grady being ant-man. i half suspect that Eric was killed off because he threatened Flash's uniqueness. they have similar builds, hairstyles, hair color, backgrounds, and demeanors; especially since Eric has been on a path of redemption/muting his worst traits. hell, look at Flash's current story; the amount of misery he has created. he set Brock on fire. Eric set a higher ranking SHIELD agent (who was hunting him - sound familiar) on fire. Flash was a bully. look how Eric treated Speedball from the Marvel Apes-verse. Flash's dad was a cop. Eric's dad was, presumably, a firefighter. both would hit on anything that walks. both have used lethal force (although that's something i wouldn't have expected from a spider-man fanboy). both have issues with drinking. Flash is one of my favorites. but there at least 3 other identities i'd choose before shoehorning him into the ant-man costume. he'd make an interesting Hornet for instance. i'd eagerly read an Ant-Man and Hornet 'buddy' cop book.

    Again, very well put.
he quit in the cartoon. then he became Yellowjacket.

he's currently both. 'Ant-Man' will always be one part of 'Giant-Man.' he can grow. he can shrink. his current giant-man costume has antennae; in case he needs to use an ant-man powerset. he's Giant-Man. and Giant-Man can duplicate the powers of Ant-Man. him becoming Giant-Man was treated as an upgrade. so, logically, becoming Ant-Man is a downgrade. if you don't want him to grow any longer, then i understand your position. but you'd still have to explain why he has chosen to return to his training wheel identity instead of becoming Yellowjacket (which he settled on because it was an upgrade from Ant-Man).

Truthfully im up for more then one Ant-Man running around. Keep Scott in the Defenders, in his awesome costume, and have Hank in this new variation of his Ant-Man costume.
works for me. but i don't agree that Hank juggling his identities was "Hank being Hank." that was all directed by the insecurities of the writers. in-story, it was treated as Hank forgetting himself. but the 'classic' version Hank Pym didn't juggle. he was Ant-Man. he came to realize that being Ant-Man had its disadvantages; as his adversaries became more formidable. so he he upgraded himself to Giant-Man. when Whirlwind embarrassed him, he didn't go back to being Ant-Man. he increased his own speed as Giant-Man. then some writer decided to trap him at giant height and rename him Goliath. that wasn't a high point for the character. becoming Yellowjacket wasn't a high point for the character. the next time he became Ant-man, he was insane/mind-controlled by Ultron. and ditched an identity as part of West Coast Avengers because he didn't feel like much of a hero. when he got his **** back together, he was Giant-Man. the identity juggling is representative of Hank losing control of his life. he's no more prone to switching up costume identities than Steve Rogers.

The more I think about it, the more I expect this to be Lang, and the story in the point one used to push the fact that he's in Defenders now and try and pick up the amount that book is doing; I would doubt Ant Man would get a solo title until much closer to the movie coming out.

I'm still holding out for Pym to be the Ant Man in the movie (and the only Ant Man for reasons discussed elsewhere that don't need going over again), but it's unlikely Marvel would want two Ant Men running about the place, and Pym is much more likely to get a spot in an Avengers book and I doubt either he, Lang or Eric could sustain an ongoing.

why would they make Pym Ant-man instead of Giant-Man? it really makes no sense; for the movie-verse or comics.

Because there isnt any history of the character in the movie, as such all arguments as to why he shouldn't be the Ant Man of the titular movie are negated beyond personal preference.

In regards why it makes sense, well, because of everything the Pym character tends to bring with it, in regards Jan, Ultron etc being, again due to personal preference, more interesting than the single father character with no real accomplishments in regards comics history.

In as far as why Ant Man and not Giant Man, I would have him do both, but the idea of Ant Man is one that is likely to sell more than if they brought out a Giant Man film, because the insect control angle is fun. Grow in the finale of the film, or possibly not until Avengers, but don't bring out the Giant Man name, because it's an even more of a sucky name than Ant Man in terms of a codename you want to hear in a movie.

his "history" is that he created a size-changing formula. a solo movie isn't required to introduce that.

the cat burglar (hint: that's the hi-tech spy heist angle comes from) ex-con character with contacts in the criminal underworld, employment at Stark's company, and a stealth-based skillset. they can get away with Stark or A.I.M creating Ultron. it also alleviates them of having two size-changing characters. that leaves room for other marvel heroines i.e. Captain Marvel, She-Hulk, Mockingbird, etc.

a pym fan insulting the ant-man name? epic fail. anyways, nothing you've said entails Pym being the lead of the Ant-Man movie. all of his history could be introduced through someone else. makes it less of a generic origin story.

Considering how you just disregarded the importance of a founding Avengers with inverted commas, I'm really not going to bother going over it all with you again. Personal preference is all we end up at, or taking pot shots at each other or making arguments that boggle the mind.

You'd like Lang, I want Pym. That's all there is to it.

founding avengers: Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Hulk, and Coulson. Pym is irrelevant to their experience.

Your logical reasoning and common-sense perspective is pretty annoying.

I know right! Sorry, I keep forgetting this is the internet, so I need to make more spurious claims and demand that my view is the only view, while belittling anyone who disagrees with me!

in other words, you don't have an answer for me. you've accepted that Pym isn't a founding member of the movie-verse Avengers. so that is not a factor in who should be Ant-Man.

No, because all that any answer would in tell is me once again entering in to a discussion with you where by you suggest numerous ways in which Lang makes a good character, me agreeing but countering with points as to why I prefer Pym, and would rather see him in the movie version as the main character and then we talk in circles because I will never accept a movie about Lang, while you are happy to have both, but would prefer Lang get the spotlight and Pym just be the guy who joins the Avengers later, despite having to share his spotlight.

But in this instance we are talking about a point one book, which I have already said I suspect will be Lang, even if I still want Pym in the movie.

Why keep harping on when we've had this discussion in several threads? Let's both just agree we disagree and move on until we know more.
