If a new Ultimate Comics Fantastic 4 was launched, who could replace Reed Richards?

Hmmm... Peter Parker would have been a great fit. A very intelligent guy who can wrap up opponents like Reed does. Wait... They killed Parker as a publicity stunt.

Taking my personal opinion on the matter, and considering others opions on the matter...I believe I have come up with a good lineup (based on the conversation so far).

My lineup so far is like this:

1. Sue Grimm (marries Ben Grimm) The Invisible Woman - Designated Leader
2. Ben Grimm - If Reed Richards ends up dieing, I would like to call him Mr. Fantastic. I think it goes well with his fancy new purple powers.
3. Johnny Storm The Human Torch
4. Jessica Drew Spider-Woman

At first I wasn't sure that lineup would work, but talking to all of you has got me believing this is the best lineup.

So if it plays out that Reed Richards dies, what does everyone think of calling Ben Grimm Mr. Fantastic?

Actually I am not sure what the public knows about Reed Richards. They knew him as Mr. Fantastic but do they know what he has done or that he and the Maker are the same person. Do the public even know about the Maker and his involvement in the destruction of DC? I think the Mr. Fantastic name is still be available due to the public's good standing with Reed's former reputation and due to the secrets SHIELD and the government hold from the public.

If it plays out that Reed Richards dies, and it's a possibility that he could, then I think the right name for Ben Grimm is Mr. Fantastic. The name Mr. Fantastic is important to the legacy of the Fantastic Four, and this is the Ultimate Universe. I just feel it would be like giving Ben Grimm a great honor to be called Mr. Fantastic. I believe it would make this new version of him more important too. So at the end of the day, I believe it would only be a good thing.

How does that sound to everyone?

Spider-woman really does seem like the natural fit, now doesn't she?

But I do like the idea of combining Project Pegasus with the Think Tank, and make that the new HQ.

I'd expand the roster tho', do something new and daring with it, might as well go full Future Foundation without Reed anyway.

Absolutely a great idea! I was thinking it myself. It doesn't make sense after everything that's happened for the F4 to come back. There's just too many emotional scars. But the Future Foundation? Sounds great and makes sense! By the way, Wonder Man is a perfect name for Ben now.

My only deal is I'd leave Johnny in X-Men. He's great over there! And that makes Spider-Woman somewhat of a moot point. Personally I'd love to see Namor join the team...or whatever the Future Foundation is. As well as She Hulk. Those are my two picks. But I'd also like it if they included a new character. And someone earlier mentioned they should have Carol Danvers as the team's leader. It's a great idea, and if Captain Mahr-Vehl was involved it would be a total set up for her later becoming Ms. Marvel/Warbird/Captain Marvel.

Also, is anyone else interested in an Ultimate Guardians of the Galaxy appearing in this? Just as an idea.

I'm surprised with alot of people saying they want cosmic characters in the book, and on the team...that no one has mentioned The Silver Searcher (Ultimate Silver Surfer) for a character that could join the team. I think if a cosmic character would join, he would be the best choice.

Personally, I'd call the series Ultimate Comics: 4 and give it a cosmic theme. Project Pegasus would make a great vehicle for cosmic stories in the UU.

Honest, if I were to bring a Fantastic Four back to the Ultimate universe, I'd leave Ben Grimm out of it. I'm not a fan of the changes they put his character through in the aftermath of Ultimatum and don't think he would fit in with the normal theme of the team being of the team's powers linked to the four elements, especially since I would bring back Johnny Storm. The same goes for Mahr Vehl, even though I am dying for them to do anything with the character and the awesome design he has.

Given that and the absence of characters that would stand for water and earth, I'd probably have to have new characters created just to fit, but with obvious direction centering around Sue and Johnny Storm anyway, that probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

I love that line up, instead of Nova I would prefer Jessica Drew though, she is horribly underused in Ultimates and seeing her work or argue with Sue would be priceless and would balance the genders in the team.
