Smile If a new Ultimate Comics Fantastic 4 was launched, who could replace Reed Richards?

If Marvel decided to launch a new Ultimate Comics Fantastic Four, who could replace Reed Richards as the fourth member?

Lets just say that Marvel did the book this way:

    1. Sue Storm & Johnny Storm are still the way they are today. Ben Grimm is still his new purple self. Like here http://www.comicvine.com/thing/29-21..._/105-2166345/

    2. Sue & Ben get married.

    3. Reed Richards either dies or goes to super villain prison, and he is taken out of the picture.

    4. There is no Future Foundation. This book is not about the West Coast Ultimates. This book is about the Fantastic Four, consisting of Ben Grim, Sue Grimm, Johnny Storm, and a new fourth member.

Now keeping that concept in mind, if Marvel launched a new Ultimate Comics Fantastic Four...who do you think could replace Reed Richards as the fourth member?

If Johnny is still alive you mean. Thinking about who though.

    Capt Mahr-Vel or Iron Man.
    1) Find a bad guy
    2) Be Wolverine
Ultimate Wolverine is coming back, sort of!

    Captain Mahr-Vehl's my definitive choice.

Anyone science-y, so The Falcon and Spiderwoman would be good picks, I think.

    Mahr-Vehl to replace Reed.

If Johnny doesn't make it out of DWF alive, Nova would be a good fit.

After much thought I think it should be Morbius, Man-Thing, Blade, and Howard the Duck.

How about Ultimate She-Hulk, Betty Ross? An old 616 F4 member, but still a new UU take on it.

She's not a science person in the Ultimate Universe, but she got a degree in Communication.

Sue, Ben, Johnny, Mar-vel, and Spider-Woman.

    Call them the Fantastic Five.

    All-new roster, huh? Brave.

I vote for Geldoff, Deadpool, Omega Red and Cable.

Let's think about the roles the team had in the original, using TV Trope's "Five Man Band." http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FiveManBand

In the original, Reed was a combination of Leader and Smart Guy; Sue was a combo of The Chick and Smart Guy (or girl, as it were); and, in a fun switch, Ben was probably the Lancer while Johnny was The Big Guy.

In a new one, I'm thinking Sue would definitely take on the Leader and Smart Guy roles. Ben gets the Lancer again, and possibly The Chick, seeing as he'll have to keep Johnny's Big Guy under control. That leaves us room for another Smart Guy, I'm thinking, since Sue will have to take on The Leader duties. So...maybe a different kind of Smart Guy. Smart in something not sciency...which leads me back to She-Hulk, for the best balance of personalities, since she could handle the team's public relations side.

I think Mahr-Vehl and Nova should join. I wouldn't be opposed to Betty Ross though. I just want to see some Mahr-Vehl in the UU again.

Bring in Carol Danvers. Don't turn her into Ms Marvel, but keep her as a member of the army. She'll have the same job managing the FF that General Ross used to, but she'll take a more hands-on approach and accompany the team on missions as their leader. The team will be tasked with protecting Earth from extra-terrestrial and extra-dimensional threats. Reed Richards will escape from his imprisonment and become their main enemy, but there'll be plenty of other villains, too.

Supporting characters will include Alex Wilder and other super-geniuses, but they'll stay in the Baxter Building instead of accompanying the team on missions.
