Dude, do you know anything about Arabic? For all we know the word could have had a Persian origin and you still call it Arabic. It has a middle eastern origin, more like a literal Iran/Iraq origin meaning that the word would have had about a 45% chance to be Arabic. And don't just say its Arabic because its Iraqi, there are other languages there.

Oh and dude, Arabic is technically a family of languages INCLUDING Modern Standard Arabic.

It sounds like you're questioning his insight on the topic without knowing the answer yourself.......

Am I the only one that sees that?

I'd say the better-known pronunciation is "Rah's" from Batman Begins. After all, most of the general public probably didn't even know who Ra's was until then. "Rae'sh," however, comes from the person who originally created the character, so I'd say that one's probably correct.

I'm almost possitive there's an accent over the s in the comics. I think it's not supposed to be just an apostrophe.

Looking at a copy of 'the resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul' and there is no accent. I'm trying to think of a language that actually uses accents of the 's' and I'm stumped.

I think everyone has their own way to say it, it's quite funny it isn't hammered down. I always pronounced it 'Raysh' (but the 'a' like the a in 'Ace') but it's slowy become Raas.

With the help of Nolan's movies I'm sure

I think I originally pronounced it Raas, for years actually. I don't actually remember any of the Ra's al Ghul episodes of BTAS, and I stopped watching Beyond pretty early on. But after playing Arkham City, I picked up Raysh, and I've been calling him that ever since.

I'd rather trust an animated series that had a revolving door of comic writers than a movie series. After all, even 15+ years in, a Street Fighter movie still can't call Ryu "Ree-you," it's always "Rye-you."

The correct pronounciation is "Raysh". It is the way Denny O'Neal, Ra's creator pronounces it too.

Here is a clip from Batman Beyond to prove it:

Did we ever hear from an actual person who spoke an Arabic language how it was pronounced? I know people throw around the Batman Beyond clip but that's not an expert witness

I mean, right now it's just a battle between Batman Beyond and Batman Begins.

    Well, we got this:

So they are both OK, it really depends if you want the ''Head'' to be metaphoric or not. but Raysh is the preffered usage of his creator Denny O'neil so most Batman media call him that way.
But in all honesty, regardless of language, I think the creator's intention trumps it.

Edit: And technically, it's a battle between Batman Begins and the entirety of the DCAU, as well as Arkham City(and possibly Asylum), plus the creator himself, so...yeah.
