How does Dr Strange fair against DC's Wrath of God in an all out fight to the finish?
Badly. DoV Spectre blew up the Rock of Eternity and otherwise killed the Wizard Shazam when the guy had prep time in his place of power, aside from the Lords of Order and Chaos massacres.
Oh Hell yeah on that.
I recalled an attempt to defeat the Spectre during that time was a spell that every major magic user in DC (well, Alan Scott and Zatanna as examples) give their magic to Captain Marvel, who eventually became powerful enough to give Spectre a satisfying ass-whooping and nearly worked until the one doing the spell kind of got drunk on the power and became crazy for a short period. After that, the team ballsy enough to take on the Spectre throughout the event agreed that the plan wouldn't work again since Spectre is...Well, Spectre.
I mean they even recruited a girl whose powers are to temporarily take the super powers of others and...She actually takes Spectre's powers. Problem was that without his powers, Spectre is just a ghost with no physical form to turn into paste for the empowered teen before her power fizzes out.
Before all of that, he was in one Hell of a killing spree that got most of the magic community in hiding.

Yeah, Strange is stomped. Regular Specture could pawn classic Fate most of the time.
Classic Strange is plenty powerful, but this is like stuffing him in a bloodlusted arena match with Dormammu. Only worse.
It's spinach and cottage cheese, if you remember the scene from Kingdom Come.
Come to to think of it, I did wrote a written review on Day of Vengeance when I was a tad younger/a tad dumber...And here's what I wrote when I started reading the second half the story:
Now confident of their mission against Spectre, our heroes of course can't go back to Plan A from above, because we know a plan that awesome will never be used again in a comic. So we go to Plan B, in which Bobo and Nightshade picked up a teenage girl named Black Alice and plans to use her to fight the Spectre. So...An angsty teenage girl fights the Wrath of God? Knowing how weird comics can be, this plan is going to work, no matter how insane it it but it still sounds iffy. Of course, they have a reason: Black Alice has the power to take peoples powers and use them for a limited time (of course, she can't take Batman's power of being rich...Because that power is a little too epic for even Black Alice). At this point, Captain Marvel leaves the group to aid the Wizard Shazam, whose pretty much an uber version of Gandalf the Grey....What the Hell am I saying? Gandalf is always number one in my book!
...I got to admit, the first time reading it without much knowledge to the characters barring a few well known was strange for me that time... O_o
But after checking the review, I remember that Spectre did face the Phantom Stranger, who was pretty much one Hell of a question mark of what the Hell he even is in DC, and despite the fact Spectre can't kill Stranger, he at least depowered him to the point he couldn't do jack for the rest of the story...And was just an example next to Doc Fate and Madam Xanadu to the heroes just how boned they are.
...Also, Spectre was a dick throughout the story.
