"Man of Steel" Teaser Trailer Arrives

Warner Bros. has released the teaser trailer for director Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" that debuted Friday in theaters with "The Dark Knight Rises." Starring Henry Cavill, the franchise reboot opens June 13, 2013.

Terrible. Just terrible. Any excitement I had for the film is gone.

I can buy the tone he's trying to set but everything else is just off. I had some hopes for the film until I saw the poor SFX and composition in the one shot of Superman we actually had.

Also why did what I assume was supposed to be Kansas look like Atlantic Canada?

All I could think about was "Hey! That's Gandalf's death music!"

...but boring trailer. We seen Superman in many films. Even a recent reboot. Why do they try to be mysterious now?

Looks lovely. Snyder's style has certainly evolved. He seems to have really stepped up to the challenge.

I liked everything up until they showed Superman at the end. I think the trailer would have worked much better without it. I think they are going to have a hard time balancing the bright primary colors of his costume against the palette that was presented in the rest of the trailer, but I could be wrong.

Seriously how could they have messed up the FX that much in the one shot of Superman we have. I can get that they're still working on everything naturally but it's a teaser trailer and they should have shown us the finished version of that shot. I can only hope that it is not the finished version. Calling it amateur would be giving it more praise than it deserves.

Loved the tone of it. That's the important thing. They'll have the FX finished, I'm not worried about that at all. I'm worried about 1) Plot, 2) Tone and 3) Acting and 4) Casting. SFX are the least of my worries. Casting they have right already. So check one, good. Tone .. looking good. Acting, well they got good actors in there. So it's wait and see on 1) Plot.
