Superman, Batman & Spider-man while all insanely popular do not have the same amount of in universe importance. Batman & Superman are well respected figures & pillars of DC's hero community while Spider-man isn't so much (not to the extent of Batman & Superman anyhow) which is why he doesn't get to hog the spotlight in alot of events...I mean I'm all for him getting moments like this here & there BUT to have it happen all the time really doesn't fit the characters positioning in terms of importance in Marvel's universe.

Agreed on every count; the fact that Bendis was unable/unwilling (God knows why) to create even one moment like this in the combined 100+ issues of Avengers/New Avengers that he wrote with Spidey makes me wonder why exactly he ever put him on the team. I sometimes wonder if Marvel forced that decision upon him; even in the finale of Dark Reign, Spidey was a bit player in taking Norman Osborn down.

Well, that's fine and I get that Marvel wanted to make Norman an Avengers-level villain and not just rehash the Pete/Norman conflict yet again but, if Spidey did not have a big role in even that story, then it was clear that Bendis would never use Spidey for anything other than comic relief during his tenure. And, over the 8 years of Avengers stories he wrote with Spidey, that proved true.

I love it when people say thisDark Reign was all about Norman Osborn VS the Marvel universe not Norman Osborn vs Spider-man which in recent years the Spider office had ran into the ground soo many times plenty of people were sick of & Spider fans really didn't care to see Norman anymore....Soooo fast forward to Norman's T-bolts, go through Dark Reign & get to Siege where we're at a point where Norman Osborn is the hottest thing in comics (thanks in large part to Warren Ellis & Bendis to a lesser extent) & now Spider-man fans are screaming about the Spidey vs Norman dynamic not getting enough face time
I'm sorry but at that point in time everyone was sick of Spidey vs Norman...Other people (Ellis/Bendis) found another interesting way to utilize Osborn & then & only then were Spidey fan-boys screaming it's not fair that the Spidey/Norman dynamic wasn't played up enoughAt that point the story wasn't Spidey vs Norman so why should he have been a major part of taking Norman down?
Aside from all that I think Spidey had one of the coolest moments in Dark Reign in New Avengers # 57

Great issue all around. I've been enjoying AvX quite a bit, and this might be the best issue yet.
And I really enjoyed Siege and him being a Marvel Universe level villain was great but holy shit how awkward is it to NOT have Spider-Man trying to get the Avengers back together to take this guy down.
You know that scene in Ends of the Earth where the Avengers are debating the merits of Doc Ock's plan and Spider-Man is like 'Trust me, hes bad news, we have to take him down' and they are all like "Okay, we got your back"
Yeah? That should of been Siege, Spider-Man in front of the scattered and divided Avengers, "He's a monster, he murdered my girlfriend in cold blood just to get to me. And now hes in charge of Shield, and a team of legitimate Avengers... I am taking this bastard down, who is with me?"

I had a letter printed once in Amazing Spider-Man #604!
Before Marvel NOW!, my pull list was 14 Marvel books. Now, it's more like 5 Marvel, 7 DC, and a few indies.
