Default Should New 52 Superman lose the freeze breath?

I don't know, I was just thinking about Superman and his powers for some reason and it occurred to me: I haven't seen Superman use his freeze breath since the relaunch. In fact, I think that in all of the Superman stories that I've ever read (including from Superman's own titles and in past Justice League stories), I've only seen him use that power perhaps only twice or three times. I think that Superman's freeze breath has always been the ability that he relies on the least, if at all. He definitely makes more and better use of his heat vision. I mean, look at Justice League #9 when he was facing down Clayface with Batman. He could've used his freeze breath and it would've resulted in the same outcome, but instead he used his heat vision and I think it was a more creative and more practical way to go.

So, that brings me to the question. Since Superman has used his freeze breath ability so sparingly in the past, has it come to the point where its defunct? I mean, if writers can't make good use of it, should he have it? And before people jump all over me for wanting to de-power Superman, please remember that Superman would still have the abilities of flight, vast superhuman strength, speed, stamina, x-ray vision, and heat vision. In my opinion, that's plenty of power.

So, what do you think: should he lose the freeze breath or should he keep it?

    No. Ice breath is cool.

I'm not saying that its not. I'm just saying that he barely ever uses it.

    Thumbs down

How does Superman have ice breath again? Is it just a matter of having powerful lungs? And if that's the case shouldnt all the other super strong characters have the same power?
Creativity involves breaking out of established patterns in order to look at things in a different way.

Well however he does it, he is able to lower the temperature of the air considerably. I kinda assumed he was super compressing oxygen or something. Honestly I think the super breath powers probably should be removed. There just excess more then anything.

Now the thing about Super strong characters is that they aren't all the same. Superman is an energy being who converts that power into raw strength. So it's not simply that he has super strong muscles. Also who knows what kryptonian physiology is like when it comes to the lungs.

I don't mind losing freeze breath. I don't think its shown to be that interesting an ability for many years.

Well, he used it in first issue of Superman of the relaunch though it looked more like the super-breath. I like the ice breath and I wouldn't like he losed despite he uses it very sparingly.

Yeah, definitely. Ice breath overcomplicates things and doesn't really make any sense unless Superman has cold blood, which he doesn't.

Be he also heats up the air around him with his eyes, which doesnt make sense either.

He flys without wings too, by the way.

Superman's heat vision is very easy to explain. He gets his power from the sun and that energy is directly translated into heat vision. It's probably the easier power to explain.

I don't think there should be any
limit to any of his powers. To. Me faster, smarter, stronger, and better vision than any other superhero makes Superman, Suoerman.

Freeze Breath included. I believe when air is compressed and the molecules are slowed, it becomes colder. I imagine he does that with his. Lungs, but for me never mind the science, he does it because he has Super Powers... Lots!

Also a more logical and believable Superman, Yuck! More Super please!

How is that an easy explanation ?

You take your energy from sugar, doesn't mean you're going to shoot caramel out of your eyes.
