Default Can someone explain this "New 52 Non cancelled title survival" thread?

How does it work? I see that Batman, Action Comics, and Wonder Woman, among others have been removed from the list? Does that mean that no one is reading them anymore? I find that surprising since they are one of the most popular series DC has going on right now.

It means people have been eliminating them. Survivor on CBR is a game in which characters or titles in this case can be voted up or down and once they reach zero they are eliminated. Usually there is a 20 point cap, meaning that no character/title/writer can be voted higher than 20. The last surviving one wins.

On what basis do people vote them up or down? Can I just say I'll put Batman +1 just because I like it? Sounds kinda shallow unless there's a good reason for me to give a title +1 or -1. Sorry, just trying to understand the game since I'm new here.

Yes, you can vote up or down a title 1. But the limit between posts is written in the rules (usually 4 or 5 posts in between your) allowing you to vote again. Or two hours of inactivity. But if it is already eliminated, that's that. They can't come back by adding one.

    I hope that makes sense.

So what does that mean overall when a title is voted down (or up)? I guess I am wondering why would someone vote it up or down? Is it because they don't enjoy the title anymore? I guess I'm trying to understand why three of the most popular titles (Action, WW, and Batman) are gone while you still have less acclaimed ones still there? What does it mean? Does it reveal a trend in people's tastes?

In other words, if I go on there, what reason do I have to vote any of those titles up or down? Seems like I can put a +1 or -1 randomly without even looking at the title.

Use whatever reason you want. It's not an election. Knocking out a title won't get it cancelled. It's just a fun little game.

    Rules:
    * You can add either add a point with a plus or subtract a point with a minus.
    * Remember to add a “+” (plus) sign or a “-“ (minus) sign to the new number you are posting for that character.
    * Copy and paste the previous vote directly before you.
    * It would be preferable if you removed the signs (+ or -) from the previous vote.
    * You can vote once every 5 turns, that means at least 4 votes between two of your posts.
*Additionally, if two hours have passed without activity, you may reset the voting, allowing everyone to post again.
*A character cannot have over 20 points.
*If a character has zero points, it's out of play.
*If someone calls for a time out for a discussion of the rules all votes in the time period until it's resolved don't count.
