Wow, they must be really scared or really confident that the movie is going to make a lot of cash.

Well, they can be sure people now know it's playing in theaters.

The shooting was horrible, but I see no need to pull the ads. The shooting had no more to do with this particular movie than a McDonalds shooting has to do with the food they serve. It was just a convenient, crowded place for this lunatic to do what he wanted to do.

This is just stupid, what’s next? Canceling all Batman books or censoring them because of some retard went crazy?

Haven’t been watching the news much, has Batman been getting blamed for this like Doom and other violent games did for Columbine?

I actually agree with Warner's pulling their advertising for this. It's a sign of respect.

The truth is this likely won't affect box office much, if at all. The marketing campaign on this movie has been going on for weeks, billboards are still everywhere and advance ticket sales were through the roof. At the end of the day Warner's had to respond in some substantive way on a story they can't come close to controlling and they've done the one thing they really can do, short of pulling the movie completely which would have been a bad idea. Ultimately, I thin they handled this the best they can under outrageous circumstances.

Yeah, but it was conveniently a midnight opening of new batman flick and the guy thinks he's the joker. Don't know credible he may be considering he colored his hair red and the joker is typically green, but i digress. Also the pulling of ads may have more to do with the unlimited free press movie is now receiving, but still i'm thinking this has to hurt opening weekend numbers. Lets see how it fares against The Avengers.

It saves them money, the movie is going to get publicity for free by the worldwide media anyway. As Jim Thompson said, everyone knows it's playing now. They save face with PR and cut costs. Makes a lot of sense.

This is kind of silly, it could have been any movie. But, at the same time, I am sure everyone who was considering seeing TDKR already knows about it. So, it is a nice sign of respect, and probably won't hurt the movie at all.

Actually, they probably don't save any money. Most TV and Radio advertising is guaranteed, so they'll likely have to pay anyway. And this is not the kind of publicity they'd like.

Was just typing that, when I thought hmmm, maybe I should see if someone else had the same thought.

I don't know if it good idea to pull all the ads but can understand why. Just hope this doesn't lead to them pulling the movie from theaters as I have their of fear of. Don't let get the win. Bad enough AMC said no more costumes or masks. So anyone wanting to dress for comic book can't anymore. :( I understand why amc is doing I don't agree with it. Won't stop the guy sneaking in dressed like he was. Sorry just wanted to bring it up as changes being made post this incident.

I agree with this. I think it's a nice gesture out of respect.
