Alonso: but our decision to move forward on Ant-Man is purely motivated by our love of the character.

you don't let a loved one eat themselves to death. costumed heroes should not have type-2 diabetes.

It was one tiny piece of art, man. If future Ant-Man art also has him as tubby, then you can complain about Alonso and everyone else at Marvel wanting to make him a fatty.

it's not a tiny piece of art. this is a highly detailed cover. they put some time into conjuring up this piece of promo art. they even talk about discussing Ant-Man in the latest Axel-in-charge. so you're telling me that they saw this piece of work and, unlike me, didn't notice that he was a tub of goo? do i have stupid written on my forehead?

Have you seen most of Marvel's head honchos lately? Not exactly heroic physiques. Maybe they just wanted some weight diversity.

It's both the story of young Jean Grey coming back and wondering why everybody is looking at her so weird, and it's the story of Logan and Cyclops coming to terms with the fact that this young girl, who they both fell in love with, is now back in some way, shape or form.
So this means Cyclops isn't going to die at the end of AvX, he does end up in that new red costume, and he and Logan are on the same team again?

Wild guess - does Scott Summers end up saving the day and get promoted to Chief Superhero?

Part of that will be the big stuff – the stuff that's easy for us to sell – and my hope is that another part of it will be stuff that people are excited to see like the Matt Fraction/David Aja "Hawkeye" where you've got a character who isn't – as much as I love Hawkeye – a proven quantity. There's no guarantee that that's going to be an asses in seats book. But it's worth doing.

I hope they apply that attitude to getting some quality creative teams on more diverse properties (character and genre both) as well as supporting books that are steps in the right direction already.

that's what new characters are for. i work out 7 days a week. if i can do it, i think a spandex-wearing superhero should be able to manage their own weight.
