Default CCI: Cooke "Scores" with "Richard Stark's Parker"

Writer/artist Darwyn Cooke hosted a lively discussion on his best-selling "Parker" GN series for IDW, including Bruce Timm's thoughts on "The Score," plus teases the franchise's future.

I really hope that Darwyn and Mike Allred's project comes off, that would be one hell of a book. Also 'The Handle' is a great choice for the next Parker book.

Interesting to see CBR considers "muckraker" a professional title.

I did indeed see Darwyn Cooke, albeit briefly, outside the Hyatt one night. He seemed deep in conversation and it's true I didn't approach him. I was probably talking to someone else as well.

He was also at the Eisners of course, but seemed to have everyone's attention, naturally. I spoke to a number of people that not, and not to Darwyn, but that wasn't a snub or anything. I left early after the show had finished as well.

And yes, I will use Cooke's name in a story headline if the story is about him. I'm not sure what I should do differently there.

    It's all very odd.

Can't wait to read "The Score." Huge fan of these Parker adaptations, and (to be honest) most of Cooke's work to date.

That's fantastic that "The Score" sold out so quickly. Glad to hear that there's an appetite for crime comics! We need more of 'em!

Loved it. Read it yesterday...my only complaint is that it went by so fast, I couldnt put it down. The storytelling is flawless...it flows like a great crime film of the 60s/70s.
The Parker books and specials have all been incredibly well done by Darwyn. And "The Score" is the coolest of them yet, and that says a lot as they have all been some the best graphic novels/comics in recent years. The orange color scheme works so well here. This is crime fiction at its most fun. These books are Lee Marvin meets Steve McQueen level cool. Excited about Darwyn's plans for the next book and accompanying pieces. Even more pumped that he says he wants to do these for along time coming. I think we all want that.

Don't worry about it.Why play in to the self absorbed major ego issues this guy obviously suffers from? He proved he was nothing more than a scab when he took on the Before Watchmen projects and as a Canadian has been taking away jobs from Americans for years now. There are dozens of other creators out there to cover and if Cooke is never covered by Bleeding Cool who cares? There is legitimate complaint and there are self aggrandizing stunts and his complaint is a stunt. He couldn't come to you first. This is too bad because I love IDW and Parker but everything Cooke is off my list. The one saving grace here is learning a little of the Dark side of Timm.Sounds like Cross Gen all over again.
