Default Are Wonder Woman & Xena Sorta Viewed Like How Superman & Batman Are?

Are Wonder Woman & Xena sorta viewed like how Superman & Batman are amongst the general mainstream public? Y'know, like how Superman's seen as the all-American boy scout, Wonder Woman's seen as the all-American girl scout. And how Batman's seen as cooler than Superman because he's dark, gritty, edgy, & just plain 'ol human like the rest of us, Xena's seen as cooler than Wonder Woman because she's dark, gritty, edgy, & just plain 'ol human like the rest of us.

Oh course (assuming that the general public does look at it this way) it's sheer ignorance to assume that just because Superman & Wonder Woman have a life philosophy where they look at the glass half full, aren't mortal, and aren't dark, gritty, edgy superheroes doesn't mean that they aren't cool like Batman & Xena are, but if this is the public's perception of them then I guess I can't blame them due to the lack of exposure that Superman & Wonder Woman get in comparison to Batman & Xena.

I've never detected a preference for Superman or Batman within the mainstream public. They're pretty dead even, there. Geek culture seems to have the opinion that Batman is more relatable, or whatever. I also think neither the mainstream public nor geek culture at large compare WW and Xena.

The general public views WW as the ultimate female superhero, which she is. :P

I agree with transvestitegod. People don't really compare Xena and WW. Xena isn't even a superhero or part of DC.

You could argue the same about Batman, and yet people still see him as a "superhero". Xena may not be a billionaire but she's got insane martial art feats just like Batman, and I've often seen Batman fans use his martial art feats to justify why they call him a "superhero".

Xena doesn't fight crime in the modern world. She isn't in the superhero genre. She's in the sandal and sword genre along with Conan.

Technically so is Wonder Woman . She fights Greek mythological threats too.

Nope, that's not what defines the genre. By that logic, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is also sandal and sword.

Wonder Woman is set in a modern world with other superheroes. There's a clear, obvious difference. I don't even know why you're trying to argue against it.

I don't think there were any major "Wonder Woman" vs. "Xena" comparisons.

Sure, they're both warriors with dark hair and blue eyes who have hot blonde sidekicks and both are assumed to be Amazons (although Xena never accepted initiation into an Amazon tribe due to her past crimes against the Amazons), but that's about it. I guess they were due to appear in that one cross-over comic book that was cancelled (but looked absolutely FANTASTIC from the previews).

And at this stage, I think most people have forgotten about Xena: Warrior Princess. They would be more likely to compare Wonder Woman against Black Widow or ... well that's about the only female hero that I can think of that has had major media exposure lately. Maybe Korra? Or Bella? Or Hermione? Possibly Catwoman if The Dark Knight rises is a major success.

At the end of the day, I think everyone has their own personal preferences when it comes to their "heroes". I like my heroes to have faults, to be flawed and to be human. So, I'd side with Batman over Superman. But that doesn't mean that I don't like Superman and that I don't look forward to his upcoming reboot movie.

I think Buffy or korra might be a better comparison partner than Xena.
