    Default BOOM Studios Extermination

Hey, guys, about a month ago I picked up Extermination #1 on a whim, since it was only a dollar. But I was wondering if anyone here know how many issues long will it be? I already tweeted the writer about this, but so far have got no answer from him. Thanks

I dunno. But issue 2 just came out this week, and it was great.

No idea how long it will last, but issue #1 was great fun. I have #2 ordered.

I'm really digging this series. Issue 2 had one really twisted...er... twist. And all the stuff about how the world ended was really grim... and sort of funny too. A picture of a world that got to complacent with super-heroes saving the world every other week. Amazing.

My only complaint is the covers are kinda dull and boring. Most look like they should be comic panels, not covers.

Love this series! Really hope it finds a following so it can last a while. I wrote more about in my review here, but my only real issue is the somewhat dodgy pencils. Otherwise, the story, colours, dialogue etc are excellent and Si Spurrier definitely has a twisted imagination! "They et me bud, they et me." *shivers*
X-O Manowar. Harbinger. Bloodshot. Archer & Armstrong. Swamp Thing. Dial H. Captain Marvel. Hit-Girl. Saga. Prophet. Read my reviews of these and more at The Comic Book Couple!

If you're interested in Si Spurrier's body of work, may I recomend tracking down a copy of The Simping Detective or Bec & Kawl: Bloody Students.

Yeah!! I thought that twist with Promethean was awesome. But I concur with the pencils thing, faces don't seem to mantain their proportions from panel to panel. I hope this one lasts instead of being cut into a mini like others...

Never heard of either of these works. I'll have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendation!

Yeah I found that really distracting too. I'm interested enough in the story to keep reading but I really hope that either a) the art gets better or b) the artist gets replaced. I also really hope that this and BOOM's other new sci-fi series (Hypernaturals, Higher Earth) manage to find a fan base because I'm curious enough about these titles to want to see them succeed into actual ongoings and not just minis, as you mentioned.

Personally I found Higher Earth a bit crap (writing seems rushed and sloppy). But yeah, Hypernaturals and Extermination are two of the better new series to debuts this year. And I really really hope they have legs.

I read the first issue and thought the dialogue was a little hokey and the story seemed to jump around a little bit.

    Are you talking about Extermination?

Yes I am, never got a sense of the world or Nox and Red Reaper. Other than from the interview that they are Btman and Dr. Doom. Hopefully the second issue improves on it which I'll read later today.

Second issue definitely does a bit more world building/background.

Yeah, I really like the art in Higher Earth and I WANT to like the book but if the story doesn't improve with the next issue (out this Wednesday) then I'm dropping it. If you can't hook me in 3 issues, that's it. I keep having to remind myself what the main characters names are every time I think of the book.

I'm intrigued by the concept, but there just hasn't been much to this book beyond some great art and its basic premise.

I really liked the moment when Heidi flipped out because she thought everyone looked like a demon on Sunshine Earth #9 though.
