I just love that art, and have to say that, I for one would not mind seeing a young Ted Knight appear in this series. Jack would be a groovy fit, too.
Every man is guilty of the good he did not do.
I'm really glad he's pushing diversity, and look forward to seeing a team that isn't full of straight white guys, but I can't help but laugh at the idea that reintroducing a character as Canadian is supposed to make the team more international. It's just kind of old-school.
Well, given that Robinson has been fond of French influenced cultures as shown by his development of Opal City in Starman, and the original Earth 2 having an autonomous Quebec, I'd bet he's French Canadian. That makes it a bit more impactful, as far as diversity, if they go that way. I'm more excited that we'll be seeing some female versions of classic white American male Society members (no pun intended), as white guys get boring. And Hourman in issue eight! Love this book!
Looking for artists, know I won't find any. That blows.
Yeah, I have no beef with it, it's just Canada is so close to the US, and a Canadian is currently heavily featured in like a million Marvel books (I'm exaggerating, and it's the same Canadian in all the books, but still).
And historically I've had the feeling that American comic books tend to feature Canadian characters as a way of making a more international cast.

Oh, I totally agree. It'd be nice if they actually FELT Canadian, but Wolverine really never has. They annoyingly are used as pseudo American instead of actually from elsewhere. We saw that too with Booster Gold being Canadian but no different for it as a character. It's a common trend, you're absolutely right. Usually it's a token and pointless way of saying "look! international!"
I was making a positive statement about my hopes that this trend won't continue as a token gesture here. I tend to think Robinson would be self aware enough to be good in that regard, though. It seems like the paramilitary Sandman black ops unit may be him nodding towards the Wolverine/most ubiquitous Canadian/badassness thing. Which is kind of funny in a good way and a bit potentially awesome. Of course, the unit other than Wesley Dodds will probably all die, and he'll probably have Sand's powers, but it will assuredly be awesome on a stick.

Is Hawkgirl Egyptian in the New 52?
Wonder if the "black female reporter" will be Lois Lane in the #0 issue. Of course, given Superman's commentary in #1, she'd be dead now. I do think that'd be a neat twist to have this Earth's Superman in a bi-racial relationship.
"Well, last night's episode was a very special episode. They revealed that the Incredible Hulk has an evil twin. And he's not green. He's red."
Except that time when Lois was black. It's dumber than it sounds. She got in a machine to turn her black so she could do a story in the Planet, I think.
If it were an Elseworlds story and she was naturally black (or Indian, like in Superman: Secret Identity) or any other ethnicity I'd be cool/mildly pleased with that. Different visuals are always nice.

I've read that story. It was funny and kind of weird. But the best part was still the title, a play on the Swedish film "I am curious (yellow)".
