Default First time posting, question about comics involving the use of magic

    Hi everyone

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct place --I'm looking for a comic about/involving wizards, magic, sorcerers.. basically anything to do with magic. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -- thank you!

For DC your best bet is Justice League Dark or Hellblazer. For Marvel there's Journey into Mystery, though it's about to end in october.

If you're looking for something not currently running, there's also The Books of Magic.

    From ongoing comics I recommend

    DC Comics:

    Demon Knights
    Justice League Dark
The Sword and Sorcery series starting September

    Marvel Comics:
    Journey Into Mystery

    Of recent ended comics,

The two trades of Zatanna are fun and worth getting:

Seven Soldiers of Victory is a good bet:

Jean Grey : What makes you such a bitch, Emma?
Emma Frost : Breeding, darling. Top class breeding.

DC comics also has Shazam. (The old Power of Shazam line is good) Currently Shazam is in the back of Justice League #7 - current. (#11 as of yesterday)

If you want to branch out some. Aspen Comics puts out a book called Soulfire. Its about magic returning to the world (set in the future). Features a fair amount of dragons.... no real wizards in the first two volumes... Its about tech vs magic. Volume one is drawn and written by the late Michael Turner.

Sandman and Lucifer are also really good, though they don't really heavily feature sorcerers they're comics that live and breathe magic. They're both finished and avaliable in trades (excep Lucifer is out of print I think, but should be avaliable used or something).

I would say that Elric: The Balance Lost is the best of the moment.

Don't miss DCs original Books of Magic mini by Neil Gaiman. The ongoing Vertigo series is not terribly necessary...

    I'd suggest Alan Moore's Promethea.

You should check out the King Conan comics, alot of the story there involves Toth-Amon (Who is the most powerful wizard in Hyboria) and arch nemesis of Conan, there is also two other wizards involved, but I only remember Caliastros :P But Toth Amon will always be a favorite of mine.
Red Sonja: She Devil With A Sword also involves magic. But not as much as the good old Black And White Conan stories
The one with the horns in the picture is Toth-Amon

Sigil from CrossGen. Has some very beautiful art too.

    For T&A, check out Tarot.
