EDIT: Huh, the Comics Beat review informs me that they're actually a couple. I figured they were partners in crime. So it's even worse.

Your point is sound as it relates to human beings...but people often contradict themselves when they're worked up. In this case, he IS trying to use that sort of language to at least get under Carol's skin. The real test is if he'd said the same things when Titania was around.

It certainly has its fans, but it certainly has its detractors as well. Both sides have been quite vocal. This odd hyperbole though was soothed by seeing lily's beautiful art on display.

A review of the actual comic will hopefully come later tonight!
I liked the old costume WAY better than the new and it won't hurt my feelings if she goes back. BUT...this new costume isn't bad.

I'm reading New Avengers right now and I have to say, this costume is just way more practical.

Ms. Marvel looks so goddamn awkward dressed like that when she's not fighting and just hanging out.
    Bad news everyone...

One person's 'awkward' is another persons' appeal, eh? XD

Not taking a shot at you at all, but how do you feel about Wonder Woman's costume?

I very much loved this! It was fun, interesting, we got a good look at our dear Carol and her mind and we conclude on a strong emotional note that I didn’t expect coming… Maybe it's my comicbook-mind that pretends every issue must end with a cliffhanger, but we don't get one.
The artwork is sleek, energetic, Carol looks strong, imposing but still beautiful without being vulgar, all you can ask from the character.
The dialogues were the strongest part, they are funny, engaging, and they feel incredibly natural.
This book is promising, everybody should check out at least this issue.

Dont mind the new costume, still dislike the new hair.

Good opening issues, bit of character development for Carol rather than just punch punch punch, loved the art, good mix of seriousness with a bit of comedy.

Much, much better than the Avenging Spider-Man issue and has me on board.

One downside, but of a self contained story. It gave us some stuff, but it didn't set ANYTHING up. It felt like a one shot rather than a number 1 of an ongoing. Could have done with an epilogue bit showing someone watching her or planning something, a bit of suspense or mystery.

Not when you consider Carol, Wolverine, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Bucky Barnes, Spider-Woman, and the FF already know it.

    Anyway, love the opening.

I picked this up mostly on a whim. I've never read and do not know anything about Carol Danvers (the only other Marvel title I get is Daredevil). I agree that the art takes some getting used to, but generally I liked the issue a lot. I'll be adding it to my pull list.

Outside of the costume & name change, is this the character you expected to see or are they going a new direction with her personality and behavior? I don't know her well enough (or at all) to judge, just curious.

I just read the first issue. I thought it was very good! Dexter Soy's art really shines when you see it physically. It does give an epic feel to everything. Watching Carol fly through the stars is just great with his artwork. The story was also very well done. This is a step in the right direction, Marvel!

I'd say this Carol is perfect. Intelligent, confidence with a touch of arrogance, but good at heart and friendly in real life.

Gotta say I kind of agree, I felt like I was reading a one-shot too. It's not bad, considering that 90% of the books these days are 6-issues marathons to finish just the set up of a series, but a few threats and plot points could have been thrown in.

Just picked up the issue and I'm in love. The art took some getting used to (and some of the first pages had some wonky coloring with the skin tones) but by the end, I was pretty much blown away. Very kinetic with some cool design choices. The story and characterization were fantastic. Maybe it was just me, but the story almost felt oversized, we got so much character work out of it.

Honestly, this is one of my favorite takes on Carol already. It captured her best qualities, while showing some of her faults as well, but really gave her a clear voice. In the past, writers have taken her all over the map personality and behavior-wise, but this seems to be a nice direction that moves her forward, but still making sense with where her character has been, if that makes any sense.

Great. I did really like the way the character is portrayed, just didn't know if this was "the" Carol Danvers or a new writer's take on her.

Random note... #CaptainMarvel is trending on Twitter right now.

Who ever thought we'd see Carol Danvers trending on Twitter?!
