The controversy over "Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes" coming off the air to be replaced by "Avengers Assemble" is broken down, with Loeb explaining that from Marvel's viewpoint, the former isn't being cancelled so much as it's being transformed into something that's more in line with the movie, concentrating on a smaller cast of characters more familiar to the average viewer.
i just wanted to say it first thats B.S. EMH should not have been cancled
Earth's Mightiest Heroes was the best, most accurate portrayal of the comic characters translated into a cartoon form. The way the individual stories dove-tailed into an ongoing season arc was fantastic! And no douche-bro Ultimates outfit for Hawkeye, either!
And the streamlining of the line-up is complete crap. With how marketing-conscious Disney is, you'd think they'd want more characters to sell toys of. Stupid.
I Dig: Hawkeye, Hank Pym, Squirrel Girl, Moon Knight, Songbird, Wiccan, Pixie, the Underbolts and Avengers Academy (RIP Stature)
Yeah, I don't get it. I thought the success of the Avengers film proved that fans want MORE characters -- we can handle it. Non-comic fans can handle it. And the kids tuning in can CERTAINLY handle it.
More characters means more movies, more toys, more games -- more MONEY. But no, they want to concentrate on a smaller cast -- what the hell does that mean? Kids don't collect forty hulk figures -- they collect ONE or Two, And then they want more characters to interact with -- so give 'em MORE! These characters exist in a colorful universe, and yet we only get a trickle of that on television, probably less so with the new show -- I have a deep, dark feeling that the first chunk of the season will deal with the Avengers 'assembling' and then, oh, say, an alien threat.
I don't usually get worked up over silly sh*t, but man, anytime 'they' start to get it right (the Avengers cartoon was fantastic -- I actually would get the occasional childhood nostalgia buzz watching that show) they have to tear it down for profit.
All they had to do was really push the new season of the (cancelled) Avengers cartoon, maybe kick off the season with a couple of introductory episodes (introducing the non-movie Avengers), and you're off to the races.
KIMOTAZAM!!
(like 'Zing!', only bigger and louder)
Eh??did he really says that? Before the topic shifts to television shows, Loeb discusses his level of involvement in the publishing division's Marvel NOW! initiative, and while Loeb is currently unable to divulge how, he does confirm that he is involved with the line-wide reboot, expressing his excitement for the fans to hear about what's coming in the months ahead.
again another disconnect with all others comment on Marvel NOW,or...was it CBR typo?
I corrected to say "relaunch" since I think that's more accurate to how Marvel has been discussing this, thanks for the note. As for Loeb's involvement, I think it's fair from what was said that one can make an inference as to his being involved in some sense.
Beyond that, I think you guys would all feel a lot better if you didn't take this Earth's Mightiest Heroes thing so personally. I love that show too, and it's a bummer that it's ending, but he's right...cable companies only extend specific iterations of animated series past 52 episodes these days when the shows make an extreme amount of money. Thems the breaks.
EMH is way better than the movie. I thought the movie sucked.
Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker, Professor X, Mar-Vell, Richard Rider- Bring Them Back!!!

Here's a flaw in Loeb's lets make it something that people who saw the Avengers movie might want to see. First it seems that Disney XD is gearing it to a much younger audience. Second as I left the movie there was a little kid, 8 years old or so, with his mother and he was telling her all about the cartoon and talking about who they should bring to the movie as a character next and they were the characters from the cartoon. His enthusiasm was a joy to see as he talked about Antman and Black Panther.
Aside from that I just wish they'd let the rest of us see the tests for Hulk: Agents of Smash.
Screw u Loeb 4 ruining wat was already a perfectly gr8 show.
Loeb is full of crap.
1. It wasn't Loeb who decided to extend A:EMH from 26 episodes to 52 episodes. Disney XD had ordered 52 episodes of A:EMH from the jump/beginning. They did the same thing with USM.
2. According to the last ratings info we got, USM wasn't XD's highest rated animated series, A:EMH was. And I'm pretty sure that new episodes of KICK BUTTOWSKI and new episodes (and sometimes even reruns) of PHINEAS & FERB get even better ratings then both A:EMH and USM.
