It's all there for you to enjoy. :)
    Thanks. I've just read it.
(And here's the part where you curse my name.)
It was a very good story. But it wasn't my favorite version of "Superman's Death". It felt a bit.....how to put it....."small'" I guess. Superman gets murdered, Luthor is punished, end of story in a way. I suppose I was somehow expecting a bit too much.
So, i'm gad you show it to me, I enjoyed it, but if I had to choose another Superman story for a DTV, I would still go with The Collector arc, Secret Identity, the Lex Or story, and "Must There be A Superman".

I'd be interested to see the sales figures on each DVD---just to see what weight they're putting on sales.
Wikipedia has a list which is backed up by a source to the-numbers.com. However they don't show Blu-Ray sales which have lately surpassed the DVD sales for these movies.

[url=http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/2011/12/30/year-end-2011-sales-for-dc-universe-animated-original-movie-animated-titles/]Also, here's the year-end sales for the 2011 movies[/i] (All-Star Superman, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and Batman: Year One. What's really interesting to note is that Green Lantern had the best first-week sales out of the 3 and Batman had the worst, so if anything that should convince WB to let up on the Batman movies and at least add more Green Lantern to the rotation.

That's cool. I love the simplicity of the story. Remember this was written in 1962 so in many ways it was kinda groundbreaking for the time. It shows that no matter how evil you are Superman will always give you the benefit of the doubt that you could be good and it is in this way of think that will always lead to his ultimate downfall. So simply yet powerful in many ways.

Ho, I agree there is a lot of good in it, and I'm certainly not against the simplicity. But I think it reminded of "The last days of Superman", where he catches a disease from Krypton, and has only a month to live. I think, in a way, that I find the idea of Superman facing mortality and trying to leave a mark of existence by improving life in a significant fashion more powerful than Superman just being murdered. In a way, the message that Superman always gives you a second chance would have been more powerful had Luthor not killed him in the end. Because here, it reads a bit the way Luthor puts it: "haha, he believed in me, what an idiot", while had he spared Superman in the end (perhaps with some last second suspens) because he gave him a second chance despite Luthor being his worst ennemy, it may have been more powerful to me.

Good point and it would work just as well in the way you described. What I love from this story as it is written is the fact that Superman with all his great power and intelligence he is flawed in the fact that he is to forgiving for his own good. It is a trait that makes him Superman above all others but also a trait that is his greatest weakness.

"X-Men" was adapting Jim Lee's comic book artwork and the last season adapted Joe Madueria's style. "Justice League: The New Frontier", "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies", "Superman/Batman: Apocalypse", "All Star Superman", "Superman Vs The Elite", "Batman: Under The Red Hood", "Batman: Year One" and "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" volumes one and two all adapted the artwork style of the artists who drew the original stories. "Batman: Gotham Knight" and "DC Showcase" both use Japanese Anime studios as their influence. The rest only used a style closer to Timm's own work because they were either original stories, or in the case of the first one, had way too many artists to try and adapt them all. It just so happens that Darwyn Cooke and Ed McGuiness both have a style similar to Bruce Timm's. The former even creating the opening titles for "Batman Beyond".

-Jason Todd's resurrection was changed because they weren't tying it into "Infinite Crisis", which Winnick said was not his decision. What we saw in the film was how it was how it should have went if he was left alone.

-"Superman: Doomsday" was changed because it would take multiple films to tell that story properly.

-"All Star Superman" did have some changes and I wager this adaptation will as well, in order to make it more stand alone and not tie into "New Krypton". All of these animated features had some changes from the original stories.

I am just not interested in the Johns Brainiac arc as a DTV: it was nothing more than one big fight started by Superman (who suddenly went after Brainiac for....some reason), without much of a value without the New Krypton stuff that is probably going to be not even included (at best, he will get Kandor back).
Brainiac went after Superman because he found out that there were Kryptonian survivors, which went against his mission statement. This is why when Zor-El and Alura activated the Brainiac probe to provide a protective dome for Argo, it eventually sent out a signal to Brainiac and summoned him to Argo, where he integrated it in with Kandor. When he learned of Kal-El, he sent out probes to find and retrieve him. But for unknown reasons, each time they arrived on Earth, they malfunctioned and took on a life of their own. When one of the probes finally made contact with Clark and was able to send back a signal, Brainiac knew that he would finally come to him.

By this point the only thing that felt even remotely close to the Donner movies was Superman's face.
All I'm saying is, if they have to adapt a Johns story , I would be much more interested in Last Son. It had a much bigger emotionnal impact, and the action part was better.
I'm sure that they looked at it and felt it wasn't a right fit.

After GL and WW failed to sell what WP wanted, they issued an edict to not do anymore outside of those that sold better. That's why the Green Arrow project was condensed into the "DC Showcase" short film. There were also plans to adapt "The Judas Contract", "Batgirl: Year One" and another project that all fell through because of the studio.
