My apologies if this is a dupe thread. I've seen some previews for this title and was wondering if it was a quality book.

If you like hyper-violence then yes.
It doesnt really have the heart of some of Ennis' other works such as as Punisher/Preacher/The Boys, its very much a straight forward revenge story. Nevertheless i've been digging it. Its smartly written and if you go in not looking for shakespeare or subtlety its an entertaining read.
Al Ewing took over at issue 7 and also launched a companion series; The Ninjettes.
He's been a pretty worthy successor so far.
When Ennis was writing, it was brilliant. Female punisher basically but she isn't targeting random people. Really good story from #1-6. Since Ennis has left it started okay but lately has been a little weird.
Ninjettes has been, frankly, terrible. Talk about making something overly complicated. I'm struggling to finish the first arc just to see where it goes from there because I think it has a lot of potential, just hasn't hit it yet.
Thanks, guys. I plan on checking out the first trade to get a sample of some of Ennis' modern work.

I was a bit worried when Al took over from Garth, but I've been enjoying his run almost as much. The latest issue especially was great.

It sounds like the first trade is a must buy then.

Not to hijack the thread but people arnt liking Ewing work? I think he found a pretty convincing way to continue the story and he had all of Garths witty dialogue and flare for shock value.
Amd i really dont get how you can say Ninjettes is complicated. As i say both books are pretty straight forward in their narratives, its characterisation and action sequences that are the draw.
Hate to say it, but I didn't notice that there was a different writer for a few issues. Maybe I should have been paying closer attention, but Ewing's done what he can to make the transition seamless. I've been generally enjoying Jennifer Blood, but it's not my absolute favorite.
To hijack slightly, Ennis' "The Shadow" has been really good through three issues, if anyone's looking to read more of Ennis' work.
I just finished the latest Jennifer Blood and it was good so maybe it was just a few issues I didn't care for. The biggest thing that bothered me was the neighbor, it stopped being funny and became too silly. But after thinking about everything, I guess it has been a good series still. #13 I hated but in general I despise dream/crazy sequences in books/movies.
I said Ninjettes was complicated because the narrative was all over the place. The characters look too much alike and jumping back and forth between Hara's mom and some other gangster, whose retelling of a gang confrontation I still can't make sense of, I think I got lost. I read a lot of books and for some reason I had to reread Ninjettes a few times just to get things straight.
Jennifer Blood is a book I haven't really warmed up to and one of the rare Dynamite books that really hasn't made me want to run out and buy it, but that's just me and you may truly love this title. If you have the itch to give something a shot than I suggest you try it out, you may fall in love with it and become a huge fan and that in itself is worth the $4 to see. Let us know how it turns out!
It's old-school Shadow - it's set in World War II, I think. Lamont Cranston is kind of being dragged into helping out with the war effort (the government doesn't know anything more than that he's rich), but he's doing the Shadow thing at the same time. It's almost like the Chaykin Shadow, minus the lingerie and not set in a more modern time. And the art's been really good. I'd never heard of Aaron Campbell before this series, but it's really good work.
Thanks, Clay.
