Default Covenant Troops vs Locust Troops

    One Grunt
    One Elite
    One Brute
    One Drone
    One Hunter
    One Prophet
    etc.

    vs.

    One Drone
    One Berserker
    One Theron Guard
    One Nemacyst
    One Berserker
    One Bloodmount
    etc.

This is only their humanoid troops.

Which side wins if we cut out the Brumak?

Which side wins if we include the Lambent?

The Locust are much tougher on the ground. With just the troops you've listed, I'd give it to the Locust.

The Elite's Energy shield and Plasma Sword will be a problem, and the Hunter's weapon should be enough to bake the Berserker.

The plasma weapons, I think, will also be problematic for the Locust since they lack a shield. But the grunt, is out-matched. The Drone/Nemacyst would be interesting I think. Bloodmount/Prophet goes to prophet. The Prophet can fly and blast the mount and rider with the chair laser.

I can't really see a single Hunter getting a shot off before the Berserker closes the distance (Not that a single Hunter would try, in character it would be so furious that it'd probably take the Berserker hand to hand), especially when it's got a drone taking potshots from near bell.

Then again, standard rules puts them out in the open, which is way worse for the Locust than for the Covenant.

You've got a point there. They'd probably run at each other. Not sure who'd win in the collision, though. In game the Berserker kills your character instantly, or in co-op knocks you down, and a Hunter tends to kill a Spartan if it catches one full on.

Though in-game feats put Berserkers at 'can only be killed by orbital strike' durability. So it'd probably beat the Hunter.

Yeah the shields the elites have make them rather tough, same thing with the Prophet..

If we include EU, though, Elite are super-hardy due to shields, and Brutes are roughly on par with Locust Boomers.

The Prophet is super-useless, isn't he?

berserkers can actually be killed by flamethrowers in gears 3, so I'm assuming a fuel rod gun would mess it up.

the problem with this battle is that Locust troops ARE locust vehicles.
So giving the locust all their monster vehicles and the covenant no vehicles is a little silly...
If the covenant have no banshees what the heck are they supposed to do about the flying locust?

If the locust get a brumak do the covenant get a scarab?

The prophet has pretty powerful lasers, very powerful shields and can teleport, if the prophet of regret is any indication.
