Poor Maro, he doesn't realize that his head in due time will also be chopped off of Medusa's neck.
Art is serviceable. McCarthy has more than full grasp of characters, figures and sometimes page composition. I have begun to like his pixelized style.

Holding my breath for the reveal of the mother, but I doubt it will happen. It's probably going to be shifted as an ongoing plot string.

Looking forward to this, as always!

I think we'll see her next arc, seeing as Wonder Woman's appearing it should be pretty heavy on mythology and magic.

McCarthy works great on Batwoman but I think they could get away with rotating Batwoman artists on a regular basis (given JH is always on and off himself), whereas Nightwing should have a consistent artist, and McCarthy is the man for that job.
You may want to check out McCarthy's 2002 run on Nightwing if you haven't already. His art style has sure changed.

Its hasn't so much changed, as it did just get a lot better and more refined.

Man, oh man. I just read it and it was a fantastic conclusion for this arc.

The final battle against Maro did'nt end in a positive way for Kate but she is not willing to give up, there are some new developments for Bette and Kate's father which may lead to a whole new Flamebird and I love how well portrayed Kate/Maggie' relationship is, it feels pretty realistic.

I seems like Williams/Blackman's story is building towards something bigger, I can't wait to see it. Plus, next arc is about what we all have been waiting for: Batwoman/Wonder Woman!.

This is the next months book I can't wait to see Batwoman pair up in!:

Over in Batgirl some are postulating that Batgirl's new archnemesis Knightfall may be providing partial funding of or at least has pull with the D.E.O. and is sicking Batwoman onto Batgirl as of the last panel in Batgirl #11. Don't forget Batwoman fans that she'll be in Batgirl #12 next month too!
    Pull list:
Adv. Time, Avengers AI, Batgirl, Batman '66, B & R, BOP, E 2, Fearless Defenders, He-Man, JL: Dark, Katana, Shadowman, Swamp Thing, The Ultimates, Ult. Spider-Man

Yeah, I'm also excited about the Batgirl/Batwoman issue, I'm sure Simone will give Kate a good portrayal.

I found this final issue in To Drown The World to be very satisfying. The entire arc was definitely challenging with the non-linear narrative and pacing issues, and I don't think it was always successful, but I do give the creators credit for trying something different. And I think these last 2 issues pulled it all together in a fun way.

Chase seems pretty pissed at Batwoman. I love Chase as a character, so I'll be interested to see how she deals with Kate/Batwoman in the future. She doesn't seem like someone who is even remotely okay with people crossing her. Glad Kate finally opened up to Maggie about her past. And I loved the resolution of the Jacob/Bette story line. It'll be interesting to see Kate's reaction to Bette coming out of her coma and being trained by Jacob (if that's where they're going).

All in all, I'm very happy with how things wrapped up, and they've obviously left plenty of issues open to explore further in the next arc. Can't wait for the appearance of Wonder Woman!!

I'm relieved that this arc is over. I'm a reader of marginal intelligence and I had a lot of trouble following the story as it was structured. It wasn't Tarantino-esque in the least, which is the defense I read a lot in these threads. Tarantino would never give you 5 minutes of one character's timeline and 5 minutes in another one. And, most importantly, you wouldn't have to wait a month between the fragments to get more of the story...

That gripe aside, I have two complaints about how the story specifically turned out in this issue. 1: Bette, defying all medical expertise, wakes up when Jacob puts on her pleb mask, BECAUSE OF COURSE. 2: A lot of my friends complain that nothing really happens during a Batwoman arc. To Drown the World is far too difficult to justify. In the end, Kate's no closer to rescuing the kids, and the ghost from the previous arc is actually back in full form.

I really like this book, I do. I love the characters. I just hope the book picks up a bit now that this "experimental" type story is finished.

Well it's third best for me. I'm currently reading Batman, Catwoman, Batwoman, Nightwing, Batgirl, Batman: The Dark Knight, Batman & Robin. Will read Dectective Comics when the new writer is on board and I'm trade waiting Batwing, Birds of Prey, and Batman Inc. (Grant's comics read much better in trade format as I experienced with previous works). However, with a less than stellar writer taking over Catwoman soon, Batwoman is clear to take the second spot.

Sadly, I'll will not be able to read this issue this week. My order didn't come in so I won't get that or Wonder Woman (My comic store is odd in where you can only get comics from them if you order two months in advance) this week. Oh well, see you all you next week on this topic!

All that and she didn't even rescue the kids! Come on!

Still, some cool character moments. Jacob and Bette *sniff* and Kate and Maggie were great.

    Wot?!
The children remain captured? After eleven issues? Then wot was the bloody point of this entire run so far?

It's probably pointless anyway...as by the time she gets around to rescuing them they would all be dead.
