Got to say I am a bit dubious about Greg's comments on how Frank regards Captain America. I am not a fan of the sickening man love Frank was portrayed as showing for Cap in Fractions run and it sounds like Greg may be heading in that direction. I can accept that Frank would respect Cap as a soldier, but not to the point that he would defer to him in any way. Also, from what I understand, Cap was army and not marine, so Frank wouldn't regard him as a brother marine, either. Respecting Black Widow as an adversary totally fits however. I hope Greg does not go down the road Fraction built. Its a total mischaracterisation imo.

"Why not just run this arc as #17-21? Do they really expect a ton of people who weren't already reading the series to buy this? "

They did the same think with Remender's last arc that took Punisher back from Frankencastle to just Frank too.

I think if Greg Rucka and that quality artwork can't keep a Punisher title going for 2 years, then the character is kind of toast in comics to an extent.

I am really looking forward to Logan and Frank talking. I just can't see them being that different in their view points. I mean shit, in his own book Logan stabs 30 people to death per issue it seems.

Have Logan and Frank talked/met extensively before?

I can imagine Thor being very confused with Frank lol. I wonder if what Alves and Frank stole was a way to stop Thor like Doc Ock did...

I'm delighted that Greg Rucka is going to write Wolverine again.

They have had numerous meetings and a few mini-series together. Jim Lee drew their first meeting in PUNISHER WAR JOURNAL #6-7, the 'African Saga'. The writer of that, Carl Potts did a follow-up encounter with Gary Erskine called 'Damaging Evidence'. Howard Mackie did a couple of one-shots featuring Castle, Logan and Ghost Rider with art by John Romita, jr. and Ron Garney. There was a terrible mini by Christopher Golden and Pat Lee called 'Revelation', during that weird period when Castle was an angel. Peter Milligan and Lee Weeks did a mini that I remember not being great. There might be more... Most depictions suggest they're pretty chill with each other for the most part. But then there's the time Garth Ennis had Castle shoot Logan's face off, shoot him in the balls, hit him in the balls with a baseball bat and then run him over with a steam-roller...

Is Rucka's Punisher getting cancelled? Or just ending? Rucka said in the interview he has more Punisher stories to tell and it would be really great to continue on with it.

Ending, its sales have been pretty poor at 20k per month which is where some books get cancelled iirc.

There's an interview over at IGN:http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/...o-the-punisher

Perhaps the most interesting thing: "At some point a few months ago I was informed that Marvel wanted to end the book and would be spinning Punisher out into a different team book and I wouldn’t be writing it. "

Yes, a bummer Rucka's run is ending. I will definitely check out what he works on next as he always brings the goods.
As for Frank on a team...hmmm...interesting.

Maybe now Rucka really will back away from the Big 2 and focus on his creator owned stuff...?

I'm honestly surprised they didn't ask him what's next.

At least Marvel let him actually wrap up his current story before pulling the plug, so that's a plus. We also get 7 straight issues of Chechetto.
Why aren't you reading Winter Soldier? You should be!

I like Rucka's take on Frank's interaction with other Marvel heroes. That's consistent with the way I've always perceived Frank's attitude. He respects what the heroes do, even if he thinks they're living in a dream world when it comes to street crime.

It sounds like Greg really wanted to stay on and continue writing the character. Its disappointing that a writer that shows so much enthusiasm for the character and is writing them well so far is having his run cut short so early. Unfortunately those are the breaks.

Don't know about having Punisher in a team book either. Wonder who the writer is going to be on that. Personally, I would like to see Warren Ellis take a stab at Punisher.

It's a bummer that Marvel had to pull the plug on Rucka's Punisher but if it ain't selling, you can't blame them. At least they're letting his run come to a full conclusion rather than just terminating the book mid-arc. I'll be curious to see what Marvel has planned next for the Punisher. Putting him on a team book could be fun. I'm just glad the character won't be vanishing, as Moon Knight looks to have done since his latest series ended.

    Default Disappointing...

Sorry to hear that Greg's run is ending, that's another comic off my current pull list. Mind you that doesn't matter. Decided a long time ago that as soon as The Boys finished, I'm finished with current comics. So soon will be on back issues and trades only anyhow.

Punisher on a team book?? Suppose it could make sense, if its Marvel's equivalent of Suicide Squad. But if he's shown as wanting to join a team.... pure cobblers.
