You'd better still be making top-selling X-Books after the relaunch, KG!

Now with that message delivered, I shall listen to your podcast.
Sorry Brevoort, Alonso and Lowe, but Jean Grey is a classic character. She'll outlive you regardless. :)

Los Campesinos were the first band I knew who gave me permission to use one of their songs. Also I provided the title for WE ARE BEAUTIFUL, WE ARE DOOMED in a review I wrote of them once. They knabbed it for the title.

Definitely. Or at least, that's the aim.

I'd love to do this, but for half an hour of talk, you're looking at 1-2 hours of transcription. And that amount of genuinely tedious grunt work* is going to bring the whole thing crashing to a halt if I try to do it. That said, if down the line someone offers to transcribe it, I'll certainly host them.

    Sorry.

And, as a final note, I also have no real clue how to pronounce Bachalo. Man!

You should totally make it a thing to pronounce it differently each time he comes up in conversation. Bah-shar-lo, Back-a-low, etc. Then eventually have him as a guest. ♥

And transcription is very time-consuming, even when you've trained for it. Fingers crossed for some good, accessible software soon.

I'm sure we'll work out running gags soon. The sine-wave effect is the biggie.

Yeah. I was a journo for over a decade, so did it a lot, and even though I've got my own method pretty sound, it's still something that is absolutely soul-crushing. At least, for me.

Will you allow the tables to turn and have another creator interview you? I would love to hear a director's commentary regarding tabula rasa or Sinister's new London.

I spent time as a Sub-Editor's assistant for a regional newspaper years ago, where half my job was transcribing from reporters too lazy to do it themselves, and the other half was correcting the atrocious grammar, spelling and formatting structure of those who did, since all of them were terrified of computers (it was the late '90s, and these were guys in their '50s then).

Put me right off journalism, it did.

I like how the first person to respond to my post is named Dr. Sonic. Thanks for responding. While universal transcription software is the ideal, it's also still a ways down the road. YouTube has a beta real-time transcribing feature, though it's extremely unreliable, and something like this needs to be developed for podcasts.

I really appreciate you taking the time to reply, Mr. Gillen. I do know first-hand how difficult and tedious transcription is, as I used to transcribe for a hearing audience videos of deaf individuals signing (on top of that, I also had to translate from English to ASL!). I will continue to hope that eventually you'll be able to outsource this task to someone. Comic books are such an amazing visual medium, and it just seems ironic to discuss them via the purely auditory medium of a podcast.

At least I'll never have to worry about how to pronounce Bachalo.
