This October, Jesse Blaze Snider and Dynamite Entertainment bring "Evil Ernie" back from the dead to crack a few skulls, and crack a few jokes. CBR spoke with Snider about the title.

I just really want reprints of the original series.

As a former hardcore Chaos fan, I'm almost certain to get this. And the art looks nice.

But the basic premise described in the article sounds depressing.

"Evil Ernie was always a violent romantic," Snider said. "In the original series he killed for his love of Lady Death, this time around he's killing because he wants to make the world a better place for you and me, so the horrible things that happened to him when he was growing up never happen to anyone else... It's the story of a good kid with a bad life, who sells his soul to the devil so he can destroy the evil that surrounds him and make the world a better place. Problem is, the more bad people he kills, the closer we come to Armageddon.
I knew Dynamite would make Ernie into some kind of hero. I bet they do the same thing with Purgatori.

I miss Chaos. One of the very few publishers not afraid to tell stories about characters who are absolute evil.

I hope Alan Grant's mini from a few years back gets a reprint. It was really, really good :)

2012 is officially the year of the relaunch:Extreme, Valiant, MOTU and now Chaos. I just don't have enough money for all of these cool books.

Depends on who owns the rights. With the exception of Lady Death, all of the other Chaos! characters were sold off after the bankruptcy. Dynamite may only have the rights for Evil Ernie.

EDIT: But if Dynamite did buy the rights for a big chunk of those Chaos! characters, then I'd expect Purgatori to be one of them.

I wonder if they would fuse the Harris books(Vampirella, Pantha) with the Chaos books to form one new universe, they seem like a natural fit.

Dynamite have them all, except Lady Death and a few other minor characters.

There's evidence that Purgatori may show up at the end of Prophecy.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was about the cartoon that came out shortly after 9/11, showing Ernie of Sesame Street perched on Osama Bin Laden's shoulder. It caused a bit of a furor at the time.
