The Underwater Welder
Jeff Lemire's new graphic novel just got a digital release the other day. Awesome stuff, anyone else pick it up?
Have the paperback preordered. Sadly though, it'll only come out on the 11th of September. Still, got a few books I have to finish till that period so I guess it's ok. Did you like it a lot? From the front cover shown on amazon, the character whom I'm assuming to be the main, looks really sad and frightened.
I loved it. I didn't even know it was coming out, I just happened to see it on Comixology the other day. It's much more in line with his Essex County than his more mainstream stuff. Kind of a character study of the main character who is still haunted by his dad's disappearance 20 years early and is on the verge of becoming a father himself. Lemire did the artwork himself. I know his style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I think the loose, sketchy black & white pencils did a great job of showing his sense of isolation and disconnection.
I'd give it 9 for both the art and the story.
