Well of course UCSM is not as good as USM, Miles is no Peter Parker

And we reached this point in under a year too.
As for the current volumes I like a lot more than the last set of Ultimate Comics. And I cannot wait for Divided We Fall.
Yeah, I'm definitely enjoying Ultimate Comics and I serious didn't expect that I would after Ultimatum, X-Men in particular has been pretty well written and full of surprises for myself. Ultimate Spider-Man was in something of a rut during the middle of Parker's time, but managed to get real lively with his death, Miles' arrival and well, the Spider-Men event and the upcoming plots for future issues (Ah-la, Divided We Fall). I've never read the Ultimates before now (which is a shame, because I wanted to), but I've really enjoyed it.
“For the natural born smartass, nine times out of ten
the "smartass impulse" is acted upon before the brain
has even engaged in first gear.” - Stephen King?
This volume was SO much better. In my opinion the post Ultimatum line was so crappy it makes me actually like the fact that the Volume changed to Post DOSM and the stories got so much better because of Peter's death, even though i would rather have Peter alive and a still crappy post ultimatum line but nothing we can do about it.
Bring back Ultimate Peter Parker
On the whole, this volume is much better. But, like a few other have stated, I really think that UCSM is the one lagging behind this round (whereas before, it was the flagship).
Why? Dunno. Take your pick.
I think the problem with USM atm is that we don't have a solid direction with the series. Although I'm enjoying the series it feels that Bendis has yet to find its voice. Aaron's death felt like the end of Miles' origin and the true beginning of Miles as Spider-Man . I'm hoping that in the months to come Bendis is going to introduce new rogues for Miles and solidify a supporting cast. Since Ganke, so far, is really the only other main cast member in the book.
In relation to pacing issues I guess Bendis could have cut out the Scorpion and focused solely on Uncle Aaron in the beginning. I'm sure, as per usual, the new SM will read a lot better in trade (and will have a lot less TO. BE. CONTINUED. cliffhangers...)
