IGN misreported on this and I got upset at first, they said that series would completely ignore the events of Episodes V and VI and tell a new take on the OT sequels; but if instead this series indeed just bridges the gap between episodes IV and V I'm cool with it specially with Brian Wood writi

What the..? I don't think that's the case, I'm sure Wood wouldn't agree with such an atrocious pitch!!

Anyway, this is such perfect news! Wood is really a great writer, and I'm sure this will be awesome!

Yeah, it's not a reboot, but it's being written without the foreshadowing of things to come (as if Dark Horse--rather than Marvel--had just acquired the license to Star Wars in 1977), IMO.

I do believe I have a New Hope that there will still be comics for me after the meltdown that will be MarvelNo. Thank you Dark Horse!
I Dig: Hawkeye, Hank Pym, Squirrel Girl, Moon Knight, Songbird, Wiccan, Pixie, the Underbolts and Avengers Academy (RIP Stature)

nope. Dumped the book after #2. I know that being the internet, no one is ever allowed to voice an opinion contrary to the message forum hive mind, but I was never a big fan of Wood and he clearly doesn't get Conan, despite claiming to be a fan. Hopefully he does Star Wars better. Outside of the soon-to-be-ending Dark Times, Dark Horse has not exactly been doing the SW franchise justice since Lucasbooks forced an early finale to Legacy. Might just be LB interference, IDK. Anyway. He gets two issues because I like the characters and the era.
    Recommended Comics:
    Star Wars: Dark Times,
Richard Stark's Parker by Darwyn Cooke,
Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye

What he means is in a lot of ways until now, Dark Horse purposely avoided doing a full on series set during the OT because they felt like they really had nothing left to say. Between the movies and all other comics, what else can you do during that span of time that hasn't already been seen via everyone else.

As it is, I can't wait for this myself.

Well, looks like I'm paying money my first Star Wars, um, anything since, oh, the Special Edition trilogy.

Okay can someone explain what this is about? Is it taking place between the movies or what?

It takes place immediately after Episode IV. It's as back-to-basics with Star Wars that you can get with a focus on Luke, Han, and Leia as they were when A New Hope ended.

Man this looks good. The Alex Ross cover for #1 doesn't hurt either. Can't wait for this one. It's been a long time since I've been excited about a Darkhorse comic.
Pull List: Transformers, Green Lantern, Batman Inc, Justice League, East of West and Deathmatch.

I wonder if previous Dark Horse series like rebellion or empire will be referenced or if 1, will not be touched, or completely ignored, or are now out of continuity. That or will they start writing like the clone wars cartoon, that dont care any other previous work.
