Gladiator get's his ass handed to him by 4 of the Phoenix Five (gang style)

Warbird slices up Iceman, and then makes out with his head and offers him to come have sex with her when this is all over. (WTF)

Kid Gladiator wants to help his dad but we have to sit through Warbird having flashbacks about the last time she helped a child

HINT: the kid's obviously dead.

She follows Gladiator's order and kicks KG's ass to safety.

the Shi'ar arrive on the school grounds. (Gladiator MIGHT be dead :( )

This one sucked, mainly because I couldn't care less about a Warbird or anything else Shiar.

Duuuude, this issue was SO GOOD.

-opening Watchmen reference would have been awesome even devoid of context

-little Shi'ar details scattered throughout, really whimsical and imaginative

-the expected turning point in Warbird's backstory actually nearly succeeded in bringing a tear to my eye

-"YOU ALL HAVE THE RIGHT TO DIE!"

lots of great moments with a well conceived structure, mostly self contained (not continuity-wise, but in terms of the narrative of the issue), with vibrant art from Bradshaw. My favorite issue of WATXM so far.

Much like Uncanny #15 felt like a let down compared to #14, this wasn't great considering how much I enjoyed last issue. Warbird's back story is unimaginative and the events that took place in the present were of no consequence. I still like Warbird and hope she and KG don't leave the book.

Of course we do. It fleshes out Warbird's backstory and gives us a reason to care about her on the team.
