The Heroes vs Villains Concept
Much like the hit TV show Survivor, we will initially split into 2 separate groups, Heroes and Villains.

The Heroes group will consist of 5-6 teams depending on how many players we have sign up.
Likewise, the Villains group will consist of 5-6 depending on sign-ups.

Each Hero team will draft 5 characters from the Hero pool. Villain teams will draft 5 characters from the Villain Pool. Some characters will be available to draft by both sides.

The Competition itself
Each week, our producers will put together challenges for each group. Teams will be notified up to a week in advance about challenge specifics and given ample time to create their gameplans and strategies to accomplish the tasks and situations presented.

On Mondays, we will post the Hero Challenge of the Week. Each teams strat will be posted and our fans will have 48 hours to vote on which strategy is the best. (Competing Players and Producers will not be allowed to vote in the Challenge poll). When the poll closes on Wednesday, the Hero Team with the most votes will get Immunity and automatically advance to the next week. All remaining teams will then go to "Arkham Assembly" and vote out one of their own. This will go on for several weeks until 2 hero team remain. At that point, the two remaining hero teams will battle one-on-one to crown a winning hero side.

On Wednesdays, we will post the Villain Challenge of the Week. Same survivor elimination rules apply until after several weeks we have only two villain teams remaining. Those two teams will then compete against one another in classic battle rules with the winner advancing to face off against the winning hero squad for the Gotham championship.

Each week the challenges will be different and a variety of skills will be needed to best accomplish them successfully. Hero Challenges will be formatted and modified scenarios fit for good guys, in order to "save the day" where as Villain challenges will be more dastardly situations that bad guys will have to pull off crimes, etc.

The Final. The Championship
When we are down to one hero and one villain team remaining, the League will revert to Classic Battle League format, mano y mano. The Hero Squad versus the Villain Squad, may the best strategy win. (The Final polling will be open to all cbr members with 50+ posts including active and eliminated players and producers and last one week in duration)

The Draft
Our producers are currently putting together the full character list. The vote will be in serpentine order, meaning if you choose first in the 1st Round, you will wait and choose last in the next round, vice versa. There will be no weighted point values in this league. All characters are worth equal value, no matter the power set. Our challenges will vary and super powers will not always give a team an advantage. Some challenges may see character accessibility, stature in Gotham, etc. as more valuable than super strength. The draft itself is currently scheduled for Sunday, July 29th on this forum. A separate DRAFT THREAD will be opened on that day to host the event and members will be able to participate in the draft LIVE. If you will not be online on 7/29 then please PM me an ordered and ranked "wish list" via PM before the draft and I will assign your most preferred available characters to your team when it is time for your selection(s). If you are unable to attend the draft and fail to submit a wishlist via PM, then unfortunately your spot in the league will be forfeited.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a Commitment
We do not want any disqualifications and no-shows in this competition. This competition will take up to 6 weeks, with your team competing once a week, and your vote will be needed even after elimination. If you are going on vacation , will be w/o internet access and will be unable to compete during a weekly competition during the League then please do not sign up. If you foresee complications involving school or work interfering then please refrain from taking a spot. Missing a weekly challenge will result in a forfeit. Nobody wants that. When you sign up for this league, you are virtually stuck in Gotham for 5-6 weeks. So if your schedule is open and you are interested in joining, we would love to have you. Strap on your utility belt and come along for the ride!

You may sign up on this thread. Sign Ups will be open from July 11 - July 26 or until the league is full. Signs Up Still Open (1 Spot Left) We need 5-6 Hero Teams entered as well as 5-6 Villain Teams. Please specify your preference or let us know if you are open to representing either. Please be aware of the commitment involved. The league and creating/writing strategies does take some time so keep that under consideration. Also be advised that with success comes continued commitment, so as long as you advance the league could last upwards of 6 weeks with one battle/challenge per week. New players (and returning as well) should seriously consider teaming up with other interested members to split responsibilities, time and have someone to toss ideas around with.

I would also like to give a big thanks to the Bat Forum mods for allowing us to host this league. Thanks guys! I hope we can get a good group together and have some fun with it. This is a little different than the leagues we have run in the past. Fingers crossed.


Here are some examples of past traditional battle leagues for new players. This year's Gotham League will involve new Survivor rules initially but it may help you to see how the traditional leagues work and check out some battle strategies, etc.:

Sure. I will accept lists. If anyone can't be there for the live draft on Sunday the 29th, then all they need do is send in a draft "wish list" in order of the characters you want, ranked from most wwanted to least. To be on the safe side, it is a good idea for every member to Turn in a list just in case something comes up or internet goes out that day, etc. just as a backup.

I also encourage all new players to consider teaming up with someone. It helps to split duties, writing up gameplans, spellchecking and editing said gameplans, comparing ideas and building strategies with a partner can be very, very helpful.
